Hearth Services by Donald Jacob Inc. is a chimney business; its website says it provides chimney sweeping, lining and cap installation in the Old Town and Bangor, Maine areas. On its BBB profile the company describes itself as a chimney contractor established in 2001 that also handles woodstove and gas fireplace installations. Its BBB grade is A+. A 2026 customer said Jacob and company had cleaned and repaired their chimneys for almost 30 years, and called them efficient, clean and thorough with their work. A recent customer would not use them again for installing a propane insert or for masonry repair. That customer said the propane insert Don Jacobs installed never worked properly, and that he said he would look at it each time they told him but never did. The customer also said the chimney caps he put on were not mixed properly and were coming apart, and another company had to come out and repair them.
I would not use them again for installing a propane insert or for masonry repair. Don Jacobs installed a propane insert but it never worked properly...every time I told him about it he would say he would look at it but h never did. The chimney caps he put on were not mixed properly and are coming apart already. I had to have another company come out and repair them. If you need a chimney swept he may be your guy but I would not recommend him for anything else.
