Helping Hands Home Improvement & Landscape works out of Church St in Clinton, and its Thumbtack profile names Evan Thayer as the account owner, listing two employees and six years in business. The work customers describe is the small-job end of home improvement: lawn mowing and mulching, fence and gate repairs, mulching and shrub work, patios, and interior handyman jobs. A 2023 reviewer described Evan patching a hole in a textured ceiling left by a leaking pipe and matching the texture so well "you can't tell it was ever fixed." A 2022 condo owner wrote that he fit a batch of small jobs in quickly and was "professional and conscientious; reasonably priced," and a May 2025 Thumbtack customer said the lawn mowing and mulching cost less than expected. Responsiveness and price come up repeatedly across both platforms, and a Reddit commenter in r/WorcesterMA recommended the business in 2020 as doing "amazing work" at reasonable cost. The record is not uniformly positive. A one-star Google review from July 2024 describes a dispute that ran through text messages with the owner and states that the owner invited the reviewer to write the one-star review. That exchange is the one substantial complaint on file, and it sits against a Google average of 4.6 from nine ratings and a 5.0 from three Thumbtack ratings. This is a small operator, not a crew — worth asking who will actually be on site, how the job is scheduled around lawn-care season, and, for any interior work beyond a repair, what registration or insurance he carries. Ask him directly about the 2024 dispute if the job is large enough to matter.

Did an excellent job!
Evan did an amazing job. Reliable!
I hired Evan for lawn mowing and mulching and he did an excellent job. He got back to me promptly, did exactly what I asked, and charged less than I expected. Great guy, highly recommend
Response to Evan's reply: Nothing I said here should be surprise to you. Everything said here was conveyed to you in our text exchanges. At that time, you challenged me to write a one star review because apparently it would make your business look like a legit business. I obliged and have legitimized your business. Not sure why you are complaining now. Please understand, this is not the first time I have worked with someone. Go find any bad review about a contractor before. I like them, they like me. But, the way you messed up everything for me was unimaginable, unexpected, ridiculous and expensive. I am still paying to clean up all the mess you left for me. Evan is an immature hobbyist, not a professional. His estimates were bad, plans were worse. His work ethics and professional code of conduct are questionable. Initial estimate for work was 2 weeks but took almost a month and left work unfinished. My garage is still filled with trash and stuff he over-bought. Brought two sub-contractors and next day started talking bad about them. I spoke with his workers and apparently these kinds of feelings were mutual. I always paid him instantly on Venmo but because of some transaction gotcha, I paid $100 less and he totally lost his sleep over it in spite of the fact that work was still not finished and project was on-going. When I reminded him of this, he sent me a text that he wants to make things "right" again and would finish the work in 2 weeks. He then came up with some nonsensical estimates and plans and forgot everything about his original estimates. I questioned him and he again mentioned his $100 balance. I paid him his $100 and said goodbye. Yes, the work he started is still unfinished. Now, I am paying someone else to clean his mess. You can hire him at your own risk. I will never ever work with such an ethically challenged professional who doesn't respect his own workers and even doesn't pay them. He lacks every professional code of conduct.
