Hendricks Pools has been building gunite pools out of Seekonk since 1970 — a second-generation, family-run shop and a founding member of the Master Pools Guild — and its website describes work across southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BuildZoom separately lists an active Connecticut contractor license. Its written record from customers, though, is heavily one-sided toward complaints about being reached after the contract is signed. A 2016 review on BuildZoom describes a $75,000 pool build that was never fully finished, with unresolved automatic-fill, UV, and leak problems and no return calls. That pattern recurs for nearly a decade: a 2022 review calls the finished pool itself beautiful but says the owner could never be reached by phone for an orientation or follow-up work; a 2023 review from a longtime customer says the company had become very difficult to reach; and two 2025 reviews describe, respectively, calls that go unanswered entirely and a year-long installation marked by delays and communication breakdowns. Several other reviews from 2021 to 2023 report Hendricks vehicles being driven aggressively on local roads. Not every account is negative — a 2022 review describes winterizing and summerizing work on a 2019-installed pool as prompt, professional, and well-communicated, with the crew flagging weather-related schedule changes in advance and giving design advice the homeowner valued more than their own landscaper's. But that review is the exception in a written record where Google's 21 ratings average 2.6 stars and a single BuildZoom review rates the company 1 star — a sharp contrast with the A+ grade BBB assigns based on its own complaint-handling criteria, not customer reviews. Before signing a contract here, it's worth pinning down exactly who will handle calls after the deposit is paid and getting a written commitment on a communication schedule, since that — not the quality of the finished pool itself — is what repeatedly goes wrong according to the people who've hired them.
The initial promise of a beautiful pool was replaced by a constant stream of excuses. The project was delayed bIf I could give zero stars, I would. Our experience with them was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. What began as an exciting project quickly devolved into a year-long saga of missed indeadlines, shoddy workmanship, and infuriating communication breakdowns.
This business refuses to answer any inquiries or calls. I would not recommend them at all.
State of the art high end gunite swimming pools. Half a century of building quality swimming pools that have stood the test of time.
One of their drivers ran a red light and cut me off at the intersection of Moorsefield Road and RT1 at 8:00am on 8/18/23.
My family has been a costumer of this pool service for many years. Since I have overseen this property, they are very difficult to get in touch with and the service has been is near absent. Had to reach out to others. Hopefully 2023 will be better
