Henryk Nosal runs HN Construction out of Dorchester, the kind of Boston general contractor homeowners call for a leaking gutter, a rebuilt porch, or a full kitchen. The business has been listed with the BBB for 24 years, and BuildZoom's permit records show 43 building permits pulled under his name across Boston, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and Malden — porches, roofing, electrical work, and gas lines among them. The clearest praise sits in a 2011 review: a homeowner called the work flawless and pointed to Henryk's own habit of walking through priorities before starting, staying prompt, and putting safety first. A 2010 review tells a similar story from a different angle — gutters were leaking and damaging a front porch, the diagnosis was quick, and the quote came in under other estimates for the roof repair and new ventilation. Not every account lines up. A 2010 review describes a kitchen job that went sideways: cabinets went in fine, but a door casing came out worse than before, nails were oversized enough to leave visible marks in the trim, and cleanup after the cuts took two people two full days. Henryk responded publicly to dispute the account, saying the previous contractor had left the space unfinished and that other reviews reflect the work better. Worth checking before booking: BuildZoom's page lists a Home Improvement Contractor registration (182742, issued in late 2025) and a Construction Supervisor license (CS-087976) as current, alongside three older Home Improvement Contractor and Construction Supervisor numbers it marks inactive — and BuildZoom's own listing shows conflicting status for CS-087976 itself, appearing both active and inactive in separate entries. None of these numbers come from our own state-registry check, so confirming current status directly with Massachusetts licensing before signing is a reasonable step. All four written reviews on file date from 2009 to 2011 — real, specific accounts, just dated ones — so asking about recent projects is a fair question before hiring for anything beyond the permit work the record already documents.

Fantastic. Henry helped us prioritize what work to tackle and by when. He was prompt, detail oriented, and put safety first. The quality of his work was flawless.
The overall quality of the work was mediocre. Kitchen cabinets were installed OK, but one of the door casings ended up worse than it was before. They've left a 1-inch gap between the door trim and a wall, and were satisfied! They also used too many too big nails for finish carpentry: our casing looks like having a lot of freckles. They were performing all cuts in the living room/kitchen, and left an enormous amount of dust, stuck in every little crevice and on every surface: dishes, glass, walls etc. It took two full days for two people just to clean the dust. In addition, there are multiple marks and dings on the walls left by them.
WE BOUGHT NEW HOUSE AND FOUND SOME THINGS NEEDED WORK, I KNEW OWNER OF SCHNEIDER CONSTRACTION WHEN I LIVED IN BOSTON SO I CONTACTED HIM, TO MY SURPRISE THE PRICE WAS LOWER THAN OTHER ESTIMATES AND THEY WERE ABLE PINPOINT QUICKLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH GUTTERS LEAKING AND DESTROYING MY FRONT PORCH, THEY ALSO REPAIRED ROOF AND PROVIDED VENTILATION. I TRUST THEM WILL ALL WORK FOR MY RESIDENCE AND MY RENTAL PROPERTY.
Things went very well from the time of initial contact, appraisal, and work performed.
