Deck repair and home renovation bring customers to Hess and Son Construction, which Angi and Thumbtack describe as a Shrewsbury remodeling and handyman business. In a November 2025 Angi review, a customer described having an existing deck redone and a new deck built beside it. They said the crew worked on the project every day and thought it took a little over a week, praising the price and responsiveness. A December 2025 Thumbtack reviewer said the team diagnosed and repaired a deck problem while keeping them informed; that customer was then using Hess and Son to remodel a bathroom. Another customer writing that month described a full home renovation, praising Blaine and his team for arriving on time, answering questions and charging a reasonable price. A repeat customer in a separate December review said the company had included extras or upgrades without an additional charge. The work also includes smaller installations. A February 2026 Angi reviewer said Bobby arrived within the promised 9–11 a.m. window and installed a heavy glass mirror in about 15 minutes. That customer praised his explanations and communication with Blaine while arranging the appointment. In a December 2023 review, a woodworking-barn customer described interior framing, insulation and ceiling work. They said Blaine and his team explained the process, suggested ways to save money and coordinated with the customer's electrician and garage-door installer. A June 2024 Angi reviewer reported a very different bathroom-remodel experience. Writing a year and a half after hiring Blaine, they said ceiling insulation and a light-switch replacement remained unfinished. They reported multiple lights sharing one switch, lights changing from normal to blue, sink and tub leaks, an incorrectly installed closet door with a split frame, scratched and cracked shower tiles, a popping and cracking tiled floor, and a split threshold. The customer said four return visits failed to solve the sink leak, which they fixed themselves, and a plumber's tub repair cost an additional $300. They also said the tile worker dismissed the problems and Blaine stopped answering calls and texts after promising repairs. Angi showed a 4.7-star average from 25 ratings in August 2026; Thumbtack showed five stars from three. Thumbtack describes the company as family-owned and serving the area for 11 years, while Angi describes 13 years of experience.
