Hi-Ho Energy Services delivers heating oil and services furnaces, boilers and air conditioning, and says it has been in business for 99 years. Its stated service area runs from Bridgeport to Danbury, Darien and Hamden, and its BBB grade is A+. A 2024 customer said they had used Hi-Ho for their home heating oil for years and that the people on the phone about oil deliveries were always friendly and helpful. On the equipment side, a recent customer said Lou, Scott, Luke and Anthony replaced their boiler. A recent customer said Ken diagnosed their A/C problem in the middle of a heat wave and had it running in about 40 minutes. A 2025 customer said Leigh found 3 smaller parts to replace after other companies said they needed a new boiler without even checking. In a 2025 review, a customer said Leigh was able to troubleshoot a boiler issue they had had for two years. A 2024 customer with no hot water said they were quoted a four-hour span for service and Jim got there within an hour. A recent customer said the woman who answers the phone called them a liar after their oil ran out four times, and that the technician Scott was equally terrible. A recent customer who said they had used Hi-Ho for years wrote that the company failed to deliver their heating oil during the winter, said it could not get to them because of ice, and told them to put diesel fuel in the tank. A 2026 customer said the company assured them before a snowstorm that they would be fine with oil, then over a week later said it was booked and could not come out that day. A 2026 customer said a service appointment came at the wrong time and that they were told having no hot water was not an emergency. A 2025 customer who needed a same-day fill-up said the company came the same day but charged a fee and called the business greedy. A news story on themonroesun.com described a Hi-Ho Energy Services fuel truck that rolled onto its roof and released home heating oil. A recent Google reviewer wrote that company drivers drive recklessly on residential roads.
“The dome cover on the cargo tank of a Hi-Ho Energy Services fuel truck opened, releasing 2,000 gallons of home heating oil, when it rolled onto its roof at the intersection of Hattertown and Guinea roads during an accident in a heavy downpour on Aug. 3.”
Great company…. Lou, Scott, Luke and Anthony replaced our boiler… hard-working, competent, respectful crew… beyond the call of duty…highly recommend.
The absolute worst, rudest, most condescending Customer Service ever. The woman who answers the phone should be fired and never be allowed to work anywhere again… she had the nerve to call me a liar after four repeated times of my oil running out… I actually stuck a stick in the tank and there is less than an inch at the bottom. We showed pictures and she basically yelled at me and said that I lied. Weird people. And Scott, the technician is equally terrible. Avoid them!
Company drivers drive recklessly on residential roads. Flip their trucks on a 25mph road in bad weather with no other vehicles involved causing environmental catastrophe! DO NOT USE!!!!!
Tech, Ken, was great. Quickly diagnosed our A/C problem and has us up and running -- in the middle of a heat wave -- in about 40 minutes. Thanks Ken!
We have been customers of Hi-Ho for years, and our families used this company long before us—back when people seemed to take pride in their work and actually cared about their customers. That is no longer the company we are dealing with. You pay for a service plan, yet when you need service, suddenly everything is “not covered.” Employees speak to customers as though they are an inconvenience, prices are high, and management does not even have the courtesy to return phone calls. The final straw was when Hi-Ho failed to deliver our heating oil during the winter. We were then told they could not get to us because of ice. This is the Northeast. It is winter. Ice is not exactly an unexpected event. Their solution was to tell us to put diesel fuel in the tank. Seriously? After years of loyalty and paying for service, that was the best answer they could offer? We are completely done with the excuses, the disrespect, and the lack of accountability. Customer service is practically nonexistent, and the way loyal customers are treated is disgraceful. Hi-Ho has lost a longtime customer and an entire family’s business. Karma has a funny way of catching up with companies that forget who helped keep them in business.
