Three decades in one Methuen shop, and the reviews keep circling two things: the window crews are fast, and when a siding job goes wrong it goes wrong in the subcontracting. Hi-Tech Window & Siding has been at 20 Aegean Drive since 1995, incorporated that same year, now run by second-generation owner Bill Chase with 14 employees on BBB's count and an A+ profile there dating to 2013. The work is exteriors: replacement windows, vinyl, cedar shake and James Hardie fiber cement siding, CertainTeed roofing, seamless gutters, and entry, patio and storm doors. Speed is the recurring compliment. In a May 2026 review a homeowner described a crew arriving at 9:00 AM and having 11 double-hung windows replaced, the old units hauled off and the inside cleaned by 3:00 PM. A January 2026 reviewer described a fast estimate visit, clear options and installation on schedule. Customers writing in 2020 named the whole chain — Bill Chase on the estimate, a production manager checking the site, the office staff — and one described the crew replicating trim detail on an 1850s Mansard colonial in PVC. The complaints are specific, and they cluster around siding. In an August 2019 account a homeowner returned from a winter in Florida to a house full of mice and traced them to large holes left around three sided-over cellar windows. In April 2020 a customer said the subcontracted crew had not taped the foam-board seams, that siding kept falling off, and that after three callbacks the messages stopped being answered. A November 2019 reviewer signed for eight skylights in August and had none by December. The newest is a January 2025 siding account: tools and a pallet left behind, an unsecured electrical box on the side of the house, and a run of promised Mondays that did not happen. For a window package this is a straightforward call; that is where the accounts are quickest and cleanest. For a full siding job, ask whether the crew is in-house or subcontracted, get the wrap and seam details written into the contract, and pin down in writing what a callback looks like.
