A porch that was pulling away from the house became a deck project for Home Facelifters, according to a February 2017 HomeAdvisor reviewer. The customer said Joe and his crew discovered long foundation cracks, supported the existing roof, removed the porch and concrete slabs, poured new piers and footings, and repaired old termite damage where the deck would attach. The reviewer credited Joe with explaining setbacks and additional costs as the work progressed. Most of the work was finished when they wrote, with painting and deck stairs waiting for warmer weather. Home Facelifters’ written customer accounts run from 2012 through 2017 and describe remodeling, repairs and painting. A January 2013 HomeAdvisor reviewer said Phil and Joe Stefanelli’s crew removed water from a flooded basement, gutted it and rebuilt it, then completed a kitchen and upstairs-bathroom remodel for the same household. Another customer, writing in March 2014, described a full bathroom created within limited existing space without adding onto the house. In February 2017, a reviewer credited Joe and the crew with handling permits and city inspections and helping choose cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring and wall colors. Customers also described how the crew worked around an occupied home. A March 2013 reviewer said they protected furniture and carpeting, cleaned up each night, repaired plaster and drywall, repainted, and replaced a bathroom fan. A February 2017 reviewer praised daily cleanup and plastic barriers to contain dust. For a painting job described in May 2013, a customer said the workers covered belongings, returned the furniture to its places, and helped hang a mirror and shelving. Scheduling and cost were less straightforward in some accounts. A December 2012 reviewer who bought a Groupon said it took months to get the work done and wanted more attention to neatness, though they praised the finished work and the employees. A February 2014 patio-and-basement-door customer described a start delayed by a couple of weeks. An August 2013 reviewer wanted more contact about service dates while waiting for a specialty-size door, then praised the completed job. The February 2017 remodeling customer said the final cost exceeded the estimate, but Joe had warned them about possible discoveries behind walls. HomeAdvisor and Angi each showed 4.9 stars from 27 ratings in September 2026. BBB gives Home Facelifters an A+ grade and lists registration number 150412 and license number CSFA-098013; those numbers are directory listings.
“Flanagan sometimes worked for Stefanelli’s construction company, Home Facelifters.”
“He was the owner of Stefanelli's Pizza Pasta Pub in Holyoke and the owner of Home Facelifters.”
This company has provided excellent snow removal services. I do not have the easiest driveway to plow because of the surrounding landscape and a retaining wall. There is also a drain that has to be kept clear. Home Facelifters thoroughly cleared the snow early in the morning and also did an excellent job keeping the drain clear.
I contacted Home Facelifters to remove a small concrete barrier from my garage, to repair the porch at the end of my house that was developing cracks and holes around the foundation, and to perform a couple of handyman tasks (replace a doorknob and replace smoke detectors). Joe replied to my inquiry and came out to give me an estimate within a couple of days of when I contacted him. When he and his crew started working on the porch repair they found that the problems were much more extensive than originally anticipated. The porch was actually pulling away from the house, and as the crew started to work on the porch they found a couple of large cracks running the length of the foundation under the floor of the porch, making it unsafe. It was clear to all of us that the porch would have to be replaced. Joe quickly came up with some estimates and found a solution to retain the roof over one end of the porch. He proposed replacing the porch with a new deck. The crew supported the roof on the side of the porch and removed the underlying porch and the concrete slabs. They dug holes for new piers and footing and poured concrete. It was also discovered there was some old (not active) termite damage on the lower side of the house where the new deck would be attached (this was damage that was treated when I bought the house 16 years ago so it was no longer active but the bottom portion of part of that side of the house had to be repaired and reshingled). During the entire process Joe was great about communicating the latest set-back and keeping me up to date on additional expenses. In the end the crew built a beautiful new deck with railings up to code. The job was much more complicated than what I originally anticipated and ended up being more expensive but was necessary. I may have been able to get the work done elsewhere for slightly less money but I do not know that I would have received the same quality craftsmanship. Joe and his assistant were great to work with throughout the process. They communicated clearly about when they were going to show up and about the progress of the work. They worked long days, often after dark, in freezing cold weather but finished most of the work as quickly as possible. There are still a couple of things left to be done (painting and building stairs to the deck) but those things have to wait until warmer weather. This is the second time I have used Home Facelifters for a major project at my home, and I highly recommend them.
Everything went great, there were a couple changes that had to be made as the job progressed, we found out the old toilet had been leaking pretty badly, and there was a bunch of rotting floor boards. Other than that they completed the job within our time frame, cleaned the house up at the end of each day very well, and really treated our home like it was theirs. Everything was sealed up with plastic barriers so we wouldn't get dust throughout the house, I was very pleased about that. We plan to have them back in the next year or two for the kitchen.
I couldn't be happier with Joe and his crew. From first contact and the time we met to get an estimate I could tell right off the bat he knew exactly what he was talking about, and was very professional about everything. I met with 2 other contractors, and even though Home Facelifters wasn't the cheapest, I knew that they would get the job done right and on time. They dealt with all of the city inspectors and dealt with pulling all the permits, they helped me pick out many of the different items for the house like the cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring, and even colors for the walls. There were some things that I thought I wanted a certain way but Joe was always willing to try and explain why another way might be better, which I do appreciate. The payment process was very simple, we did go over our original estimate, but he had told me upfront there was a chance we would find things behind the walls that we couldn't predict, and I was prepared to possibly go over by a certain amount so that wasn't a problem. The work was done very quickly, and the quality of everything is great. I will definitely be using Joe and his crew on future projects of mine.
