Home Renovation Specialists Inc.

Home Renovation Specialists works out of 39 Arnold St in Quincy — a one-employee corporation whose Better Business Bureau profile puts its incorporation in 2013 and names David Southwick as the owner who manages it. The company's own site says it has been in business 32 years. The work it lists is broad for a shop that size: kitchen, bathroom and basement remodeling, additions, finished carpentry, tile, decks, new home construction and commercial remodeling, with a service area it gives as Quincy, Milton and Weymouth. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+. One thing to settle before signing: the state registry shows its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #179097, as expired. Ask whether it has been renewed and get the current number in hand before any money changes hands. The two versions of the company's age are worth a question too — 32 years on the website against the 2013 incorporation date on the BBB profile. For a Quincy-area kitchen, bath or basement, this is a small shop that handles the whole job rather than a single trade. Put the scope, the schedule and the payment milestones in writing, and confirm insurance alongside the registration.
