Home Sweet Home Builders is a Woburn-based renovation and addition company that Walter Russell and Ryan Conlon say they founded in 2009, growing from handyman work into full remodeling and addition projects across the Greater Boston area. The clearest evidence of what they're hired for is an Arlington addition: a client's recent Google review describes a new bathroom and bedroom plus a 'facelift' to the rest of the house, crediting a team that included Ryan and Walter by name. Two other jobs on record follow the same pattern — a 12-window replacement where a homeowner said the company's knowledge and price stood out among several quotes, with Ryan walking them through it start to finish, and a kitchen remodel a few months earlier where a client praised the team for listening and guiding the project from consultation to final product. Google shows a 4.1-star average from 13 ratings, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. What's worth asking about: two reviews posted in July 2026 aren't from clients at all — both explicitly say they're written by people living next to one of the company's active construction sites, describing early Saturday-morning noise, crews parking up the street, and general disruption to the neighborhood. One of those reviewers also accused the company of deleting negative reviews, an accusation this profile can't verify independently but is worth raising directly with them. Separately, Houzz lists a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license number for the company that hasn't been independently verified — worth confirming alongside the registry-active HIC registration. There's also a small mismatch in how long they've been around: their own site says 17 years, while their BBB profile lists 18 — not a meaningful gap, but ask which start date they're counting from if tenure matters to you. For a homeowner planning an addition, a full-home refresh, or a targeted remodel like a kitchen or a run of new windows, the completed-project reviews here are specific and consistently positive about the actual work. Just plan for the noise and parking impact a live construction site brings to the block, and confirm the crew's schedule with your neighbors before work starts.
If you’re looking for a builder you can truly trust, Home Sweet Home Builders is an excellent choice. Our project in Arlington, MA included a small addition, adding a bathroom and a bedroom, and a “facelift” to the rest of our home. From start to finish, the team—Ryan, Walter, Brett, Jed, and many others—did an outstanding job. ✅ What stood out most They genuinely had our best interests at heart ❤️ The craftsmanship was beautiful ✨ Throughout the construction, we had two small children at home, and we always felt confident and comfortable. Every contractor and tradesperson who came into our home was: respectful 🤝 easy to work with 😊 trustworthy ✅ 🏡 Our experience Living through the renovation is never simple, but the team made it feel manageable. We were consistently treated with care, communication was solid, and the final results were exactly what we hoped for. ⭐ Highly Recommend We would highly recommend Home Sweet Home Builders to anyone considering an addition, renovation, or home update. You can tell they take pride in the work—and it shows. — Allie & Stuart Trafford
Living next to this construction project has been incredibly frustrating because of how inconsiderate this builder has been toward the surrounding neighborhood. Crews start making noise early on Saturday mornings, work vehicles regularly take up street parking, and construction trash is left around the site instead of being cleaned up promptly. Construction projects are disruptive by nature, but being a good neighbor means making an effort to minimize that disruption. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case here. There seems to be little regard for the people who actually live in the neighborhood and have to deal with the noise, mess, and inconvenience every day. On top of that, the project has dragged on far longer than expected, extending the impact on everyone nearby. Professional builders should be held to a higher standard of cleanliness, organization, and respect for the community. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend working with this company.
Because this shady company will keep deleting negative reviews, I’ll keep leaving them. If I could give zero stars, I would. This builder has shown little respect for the surrounding neighborhood. Construction crews start making noise very early on Saturdays, work vehicles are constantly left parked on public streets, and trash and construction debris are regularly left around the site. To make matters worse, the project seems to drag on with little visible progress, leaving nearby residents to deal with the disruption for far longer than expected. Building a home is one thing, but being a considerate neighbor is another. A responsible builder should keep the site clean, minimize unnecessary disturbances, and communicate with the community instead of treating the neighborhood like their personal staging area. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this builder.
Wow, did my wife and I make the right decision going with HSH. After getting several quotes for 12 windows, we chose them because their knowledge, vision, and the price really stood out. Ryan walked us through the entire process and managed expectations from start to finish. Their team was professional and considerate, and they even finished the project ahead of schedule—something you rarely can say about contractors. The installation and cleanup also exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend HSH to anyone looking for a contractor.
We couldn't be happier with our kitchen remodel by Home Sweet Home Builders! Ryan and the entire team were a pleasure to work with from the initial consultation through the final product. They listened carefully to our needs and preferences and provided expert guidance throughout. We will absolutely use them for our next project and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for help on their home improvement project!
