HomePros LLC is a Leominster, Massachusetts general contractor and remodeling company that customers have hired mainly for full-room work — kitchens, bathrooms and a basement — plus additions and general construction, per its HomeAdvisor profile. Its written reviews run from 2016 through mid-2018, and they tell two different stories about the same company. On finished room remodels, homeowners were pleased: a 2017 kitchen remodel drew praise for its tiled accent wall and cabinetry, two 2017 bathroom jobs were called successes (one homeowner also praised the pricing and plumbing work), and a 2017 basement remodel exceeded a homeowner's expectations. A 2016 review of a project that ran past its original schedule still described the crew as professional, the site as clean, and the change orders as clearly explained. The other side is a run of specific, hard complaints from 2017 and 2018: permits that were promised but never pulled, on more than one job. One 2018 reviewer said roughly three-quarters of the work had to be redone over workmanship problems, and another described billing errors — payments applied incorrectly, duplicate charges on invoices. A 2018 cabinet job ended in a dispute after granite countertops broke during the work; the reviewer said the owner refused to split the replacement cost and stopped returning calls. A historic-district remodel that same year, with real material and permitting constraints, was cancelled before completion. Given that pattern, get any permit commitment in writing before work starts, and ask for an itemized invoice up front given the billing complaints on file. Nothing in writing goes past mid-2018, so it's also worth asking directly whether the crew, project management and billing practices have changed since then before booking a room remodel with them.
Well the contractor like most contractors seem interested to get the job until of course they got the job then their customer service changed. HomePros never pulled a permit which they said they would. 75% of all worked preformed had to be redone a second time because of the poor workmanship and finished look of the job. Here is a few of those items. Ceiling, interior wall, exterior wall, and they ordered the wrong window size as well. The owner Randall spent very little time at all on the job site and was very difficult to reach once they had been given the job. The quality and fished product did not match the work that was advertised on their website. Ultimately I signed off on the job as happy however I would never higher this company again and would greatly advise those against it. The owners son was however very professional and took extra time and effort to correct the poor finished look of the work that the supposedly experienced worker was done with. His customer service is what convinced me to sign off on the job as done and satisfied. There was nothing else they could do to make it better so it didn’t make sense to me to drag out this job. In closing I would say at very best this company is capable of handyman work but not anything close to a full remodeling contractor. Buyer Beware!!

The finished room is very nice, but communication between staff was often poor which translated to miscommunication with us as homeowners. Billing is poor at best.....payments incorrectly applied, double charges on invoices, and we have reason to believe we were charged for a premium product under our new roof that was not actually installed. Workers were not always respectful with our home....leaving the work site with muddy floors, washing paint brushes in our kitchen sink and using homeowner supplies and not returning them.
The finished room was nice, but communication and billing were poor, and the reviewer believed a premium roofing product may not have been installed; workers also left muddy floors and used household supplies.
Job had unusual aspects-- historic district with special constraints, in-kind repairs on 75-year-old house. This company just wasn't up to it. Use for simple jobs, make sure anything you care about is totally specified in advance, and get several quotes-- this area is full of guys with nail guns and a Home Depot account who can do work this well for less. They did cooperate with a large change during the job which I would not have gotten from a big-box installation crew, although it ultimately caused so much conflict that the job was cancelled. Summary: 1) Poor knowledge of materials, 2) Poor knowledge of current construction standards, 3) Poor organization an inaccurate hourly work billing, 4) Inadequate permitting, 5) Mediocre workmanship, 6) Inadequate quotes.
