House Doctors of Needham is the local franchise of a national handyman brand — the kind of outfit built to handle a lengthy to-do list instead of just one trade. The company says it's locally owned and operated under the House Doctors name (a brand its site says has run since 1997), covering roughly two dozen towns west and south of Boston, from Newton and Brookline down through Needham, Dedham, and Milton. Customers keep coming back for the range of what gets fixed in one visit. A 2025 review described a job that grew mid-project — a rotted wooden gutter, soffit, and part of an exterior porch wall — with the crew staying upfront about the extra work needed and using the homeowner's own lumber to hold down costs. A December 2024 review described an even longer list handled over two visits: replacing exterior door locks, installing a new storm door, rebuilding a door threshold, retiling part of a bathroom shower, remounting a sink faucet, and recaulking a tub. Reviewers name specific crew members repeatedly — Robert, Marco, Phil — and several say they've called the company back for more than one job. On Google, the company holds a perfect 5.0 across ten ratings; HomeAdvisor's own five reviews tell a more complete story, with four detailed five-star writeups and one sharp complaint. The most recent review on file, from June 2026, describes a scheduling mix-up — a job got put on the calendar without a confirming call, and the phone number on file turned out to be disconnected. It's the only review from the last six months, which makes it worth asking about directly: confirm a working callback number and a firm appointment time before work is scheduled. The company lists a Massachusetts trade license (#212434, expiring June 2028) on its own site and on HomeAdvisor; that number hasn't been checked against the state registry here, so treat it as the company's own claim rather than a verified credential. For the kind of job that spans a few trades in one visit — a repair here, a door there, a bathroom fixture that needs attention — House Doctors of Needham has a deep, mostly glowing record to back it up. Before booking, it's worth getting a direct phone confirmation given the most recent review on file.
I am not sure if it's even a legit company. The phone number they provided is a disconnected one. I got an email the job was scheduled without talking to me. Can not get in touch with anybody. I need this to be canceled.
Fantastic service. We hired them to resurface and repaint our 2 level deck, basically to redo what a different company had not done well a couple years back. House Doctors’ work was perfect. Really gorgeous. They also checked in during the project to see if we were happy and were really easy to work with. We will definitely hire them again for our next home improvement project.
Excellent, timely, professional service! We are very satisfied.
The House Doctors of Needham were highly professional and thoughtful throughout the entire process. The entire team kept me updated every step of the way ensuring I was getting the best experience possible. I am happy and grateful for their service and I am looking forward to working with the House Doctors again in the future.
What a phenomenal and stress-free experience. From the initial appointment with Robert, to the actual work with Phil, things could not have gone smoother. Great communication through the entire process. I will definitely be using House Doctors again!
