Hurley & David — which also trades as HD Air — runs heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical work out of 90 Fisk Ave in Springfield, and it is a high-volume operation: 3,743 Google ratings averaging 4.7, plus 167 on Angi and 13 on HomeAdvisor, with 800 written reviews on file since 2021. The individual technicians are the strongest part of the record, and customers name them constantly. In August 2026 a homeowner wrote that Gabriel Lopez explained the service their split-unit air conditioners needed "in a kind & professional manner" and answered every question about power-washing the units; another that month said the tech Zachary diagnosed and replaced a faulty part on an HVAC system HD Air had installed four years earlier. A June 2026 customer wrote that Moses, Angel and Jason double-checked pressures inside and outside while both the new AC and heat ran, upgraded vents to code, and asked to borrow a vacuum so they could clean up before leaving. The dispatch process draws praise too: several customers mention a text with the technician's photo when he is on the way, and one described a leaking main-floor toilet with an elderly parent at home getting a same-day plumber. Price is the recurring complaint, and it is specific rather than vague. A June 2026 reviewer was quoted $2,300 to replace a fan motor they found listed at $550 and $350 for a capacitor listed under $20; another was billed $1,300 for roughly twenty minutes of labour on a hot-water part; one paid $900 for a garbage-disposal swap and another $317 to fit a sink faucet. Even satisfied customers say it: "Price seemed high but we were happy to get ac back during a heat wave." One July 2026 reviewer described being quoted a price on the phone that "more than tripled" when the technician arrived, and one visitor was asked for a "standard $90" call fee they say was never mentioned beforehand. Two accounts go further than price. In August 2026 a homeowner said they were told their old furnace was leaking dangerous amounts of carbon monoxide and given a $17,000 whole-system quote within five minutes — then had three other companies test it and all three found no carbon monoxide, with replacement offers of $8,000 to $11,000. A June 2026 customer said a part for a water heater H&D had installed eight months earlier left them without hot water for days and was then misdiagnosed. In August 2026 another said an electrician's wrong diagnosis of a circuit breaker cost $600 and the replacement breaker tripped again. Get the quote in writing before the visit, ask what the diagnostic fee is and whether it is credited against the repair, and — on any furnace-replacement recommendation driven by a safety finding — get a second test before you commit. For routine service and installs where you have agreed the price in advance, the technician-level record here is genuinely strong.

“Hurley& David is awesome. They replaced my whole heat/ac and we're extremely professional”
Luis from Hurley & David was friendly, on time, and very helpful. Thank you!
Our service technician, Gabriel Lopez, was excellent. He thoroughly explained service needed for our split unit air conditioners in a kind & professional manner. He was knowledgeable, careful & very respectful to us & did his job neatly, thoroughly & answered all questions we had about the process of power washing our units. We recommend Gabriel 100%! We thought what we paid was a bit high because we were not aware that the quote given on the phone only included a regular tuneup.
We had a new HVAC system installed by HD Air about 4 years ago, and we recently needed a repair done. The tech Zachary who came out handled everything from diagnosing the problem to replacing the faulty part. We really can’t say enough about the quality of this technician. Zachary was extremely knowledgeable and clearly very good at what he does. He was also very patient with us and happy to answer all of our questions. It is very refreshing to meet people nowadays who seem to actually enjoy their line of work and deal with their customers in such a pleasant manner. Also, someone at HD Air (I think her name is Alicia) has always been extremely helpful and accommodating whenever I call with a problem or to schedule service. I appreciate the consistently helpful customer service that I’ve received from her. I hope HD Air can appreciate that it is these personal interactions and being able to trust the people that are providing a service to you that keeps loyal customers around. Thank you! -Rebecca Thomas
