Ninety-seven ratings spread across seven sites, and one name runs through nearly all of them: Alex. Ideal Home Improvement is a one-person shop in Dracut, and the company says it has been refacing kitchens around Lowell and southern New Hampshire since 1999, with the owner doing every job himself and no subcontractors. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and its BBB page carries an A+ with accreditation dating back to 2006. The work is narrow on purpose: keep the cabinet boxes and the layout, replace everything you actually see. One recent Google reviewer describes cabinets raised to the ceiling for roughly 50 percent more storage, a built-in microwave shelf, and extra drawers added to an island. Another pairs the refacing with double crown moulding and a custom coffee bar. A condo owner called the job a "refresh" that came back looking like a new kitchen at a fraction of the cost. The line that repeats most isn't about the woodwork, though — it's about showing up. Reviewers this spring wrote that he arrived exactly when he said he would, priced the job with no surprises, and cleaned up as he went. Seventeen of those reviews landed in the last six months, none of them negative, and the reviewing history behind them stretches back to 2009. Two things are worth pinning down before you call. This is genuinely a solo operation — one customer this winter called him a "one man show" — so your job shares a calendar with everyone else's. And the registration numbers don't line up: his own site and his Houzz profile both list HIC #120477, while the state registry shows his active home improvement contractor registration under a different number. Ask which one covers your work. He's the right call if your cabinet boxes are sound and you want a kitchen that reads as new in days rather than months; Houzz puts a typical project between $3,000 and $15,000. He is not the outfit for a gut renovation that moves walls or coordinates trades. Get the estimate in writing, confirm the registration number, and ask how far out he's booking.

Best in the business when it comes to kitchen cabinet refaceing. We couldn't be happier with the final product and the fact that it was completed on time at a fantastic price was even better.

We hired Alex for a full kitchen remodel, and the experience was excellent. They were clear about the timeline, communicated well throughout the project, kept the workspace surprisingly clean, and the quality of the cabinets, and finish work was outstanding. No issues came up during the remodel, very professional. We are really happy with the final result and would absolutely use them again , definitely recommend him to anyone and everyone . Use him you’ll be glad you did!

It was a pleasure working with Alex on our kitchen project. We were able to update our cabinets without having to undergo a full remodel. Quick, cost-effective, and professional results
