J&E Corp's reviews read like two different companies. On one side: patio, backyard and hardscape projects that customers describe as finished fast and exactly as designed, sometimes chosen over competing bids specifically for the crew's portfolio and pricing. On the other: a cluster of detailed, recent complaints about missed timelines and, in one case, an owner accused of offering a customer $1,000 to take a negative review down.
The Woburn, Massachusetts company says it's been father-and-son run since 2016, founded by Juan and Eduardo, doing landscaping, masonry and hardscaping, outdoor living spaces, and gunite pools and spas for homeowners north of Boston — Woburn, Winchester, Burlington, Reading, North Reading, Lexington, Concord, Wellesley, Andover, Stoneham, Melrose, Newton, Sudbury, Lincoln and Wilmington, by its own account.
The praise is specific and repeats across years. In an April 2026 review, a homeowner described a new patio, pathway and lawn installed after a home addition; in a 2025 review, a customer said Ed and Juan's crew connected an existing patio to the driveway and installed a crushed-stone shed pad, finishing everything in one day; and in a 2024 review, a customer picked J&E over two other bids after being impressed with photos of past hardscape work and how Eduardo talked through site challenges like a septic field. A Houzz review from January 2020, well outside the period that weighs most heavily, describes a roughly $100,000 backyard hardscape and paver-patio project finished in about three weeks.
There's real trouble too. The Better Business Bureau grades the business an F for failing to respond to four of six complaints filed against it, and does not list it as accredited. In an August 2025 review, a customer described a backyard grading, retaining-wall and fencing job where the explanations kept changing once work started; another review from that same month described a pool-liner and patio job that was supposed to take three to four weeks starting in late April and still wasn't done more than a year later. Most seriously, in a January 2025 review, a customer said that after posting a negative review, the owner offered $1,000 to take it down — far short, the customer said, of covering what they'd actually paid. A 2022 review described one-line email responses to a large project inquiry.
Customers whose projects went well describe genuinely striking finished work — but the complaints are recent, specific, and frequent enough that anyone considering a larger job here should get a firm timeline, payment schedule and scope in writing before signing anything.
