J&J Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.

An AC unit leaking all over a basement floor on a Saturday morning, a technician at the door before noon, the unit running again in about an hour and a bill about $300 under what the homeowner expected: that was one customer's Saturday with J&J Heating and Air Conditioning, in a July 2026 Google review. The Dracut company says it was founded in 1971 as a family-run business, still works from the same Arlington Street location, and fabricates its own ductwork in house. It holds 4.8 stars from 423 Google ratings and an A+ from the BBB. Edward T Ayotte's Massachusetts HVAC licence (1371-SM-M1) is active on the state registry. Customers name the technicians on maintenance calls. Two June 2026 reviewers described yearly heating and AC service with Mike or Jack; one June 2026 reviewer had Mitsubishi mini splits cleaned by Kimheng. In a June 2026 review, Ethan came to install a furnace pump, smelled gas, found the leak on a gas-line joint with a bubble solution and helped the customer find a plumber. In January 2026, a customer whose heating problem three other companies had failed to fix since September said Dylan came out the same day in 20 inches of snow and found it in an hour. On Reddit, a February 2026 commenter said they had used J&J for six years. In a May 2026 review, a customer was quoted a furnace replacement in the mid-$9,000 range, later found the problem only happened with the second-floor zone, and was refused a refund of the $157 diagnostic fee. A December 2025 condo resident paid $157 to be told a thermostat problem was electrical. A January 2026 reviewer said a one-day heat pump install stretched over six or more days and left a 2-inch gap at the main ductwork. An April 2026 customer called the work overpriced, said the company charged for warranty work after a four-day wait for hot water, and said the fix broke again three months later; a May 2026 reviewer said three mini splits were not rebate-eligible as promised. In an October 2023 review, a customer paid $1,196 to repair an on-demand hot water burner, about $750 of it before the technician found a loose wire in the wiring harness. In a December 2022 BuildZoom review, a customer said a condenser water pipe began leaking minutes after an $850 furnace repair and flooded the floor, and the technician did not respond. On BuildZoom, the company has 1.0 star from 3 ratings.
