J&J Heating and Air Conditioning has been running out of the same Dracut, Massachusetts location since 1971, a family-run shop that installs, maintains and repairs furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits, boilers and central air, fabricating its own ductwork in-house. Individual technicians — Jack, Mike, Ethan, Kim and others — come up by name again and again in its reviews, a sign of a company whose clients get to know the same faces over repeat visits. Google rates the company 4.8 stars from 423 reviews and the Better Business Bureau gives it an A+. The specific praise runs deep: a Saturday emergency call for a leaking A/C unit that had a technician on-site and the unit running again within hours, a heating outage during a snowstorm that three other companies couldn't diagnose but J&J solved in about an hour, and a commercial client who has relied on the company for nearly two years to maintain HVAC across more than 100 apartment units. A residential customer on Reddit reports six years of trouble-free service. Alongside that, a real cluster of complaints runs through 2023-2026: several reviewers describe feeling overcharged, including a $1,196 bill for what turned out to be a loose wire and a furnace-replacement quote in the $9,000 range after a limit-switch diagnosis. Others describe rough scheduling and execution — a heat pump and air handler installation that stretched past six days with a different technician showing up each time, an appointment cancelled less than three hours before it was due, and rebates promised on a mini-split job that didn't come through. A couple of isolated reports describe a misdiagnosed thermostat issue and a furnace repair followed by a leaking condenser pipe with no response when the customer followed up. J&J is a long-running, well-reviewed choice for routine HVAC maintenance and emergency repairs in the Dracut area, particularly if a specific technician is requested by name based on past experience. For a larger installation or a costly repair quote, getting a second opinion or a written itemized estimate is a reasonable step given the pricing and scheduling complaints on file.

“The three companies in your area I would suggest contacting in order are: Caron Heating & Cooling (Methuen) J&J Heating and Air Conditioning (Dracut) A. Fagundes Plumbing and Heating (Tyngsborough)”
Jack was very friendly and professional. Great service! Highly recommended!
Jack from J&J came in and was very efficient in quickly troubleshooting and fixing our HVAC system. And, was a very personable guy. Hire these guys... you won't be disappointed. 👍👍👍
Thomas the service tech was great, personable, knowledgeable
The plumber gets 5 stars solving a problem that left me without hot water , at least it wasn’t heating season!
Had my a/c unit go down and leak all over my basement floor - called them on a Saturday morning and their tech was at my house before 12pm. Super professional, had the unit back up and running in about an hour - and to top it all off, they did it for about $300 less than I expected - especially for Saturday service!! Sorry everyone else, I will only be calling J&J in the future for anything plumbing, heating, a/c, etc. Truly great experience, thank you!
