At 4 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday in February, with the house at 48 degrees and −5 outside, a family worked down a list of 24-hour HVAC contractors. New Era was the one that came. That story repeats in review after review: someone calls after another company has charged for an estimate, gone quiet, or simply not answered, and New Era gets a truck out the same day. On a 100-degree July 3, the Friday before a holiday weekend, a homeowner called at 1 p.m. about an air conditioner blowing warm. A technician was in the driveway at 4 and the system was running at 4:40. A landlord with a tenant's dead furnace had Robert on site immediately and Neil there fifteen minutes behind him. The Dracut company works plumbing and HVAC out of the same shop, and the crews are big enough to swap a central AC system, a furnace and a hot water heater in a day. Reviewers name the people — Steve L, Robert, Joe, Mike, Azi, Momo, Neil, and Shay on the phone — and a lot of them ask for one by name the next time. What they credit them for, over and over, is the walkthrough: how the new unit works, how to keep it clean, what the options were. Google carries a 4.9 average across 1,067 ratings, and its BBB page is an A+. The complaints are narrow and specific, and they land in the same place — clogs. In April 2026 a customer paid $270 for a toilet the technician couldn't clear with a snake, and was told it would have to come off the floor and a power auger be brought in. In January 2026 another paid $480 to unclog a sink, said it still wasn't usable, and reported the company maintaining the job had been done. A September 2025 reviewer split the two halves of the business sharply: the technician's work was fine, the office staff on the phone was not, in a dispute over a fee for a problem that wasn't fixed. So: for heating and cooling — an emergency at an inconvenient hour, a system replacement, seasonal maintenance — the review history runs deep and consistent, and the response time is the real product. For a stubborn drain, pin down the price structure and the what-if-it-doesn't-clear answer before the technician starts.

Honestly had no idea what was going on or how anything works. When Rob arrived, on top of fixing my problem, he basically gave me a whole class. I learned a lot and it was very much appreciated.
