J&N Surface Pros is about a year old, and the shape of its early record is unusually specific for a new shop: 30 ratings on Thumbtack averaging 4.9, 25 jobs booked through the platform, and Top Pro status for 2025. It works out of Revere and covers Greater Boston, doing both homes and commercial spaces — apartment turnovers, office and retail fit-outs, and residential renovations. The materials it names are the resilient end of the trade rather than site-finished hardwood: luxury vinyl tile, carpet tile, laminate and sheet vinyl, plus carpet installation. Interior painting is also on its service list, and one customer this summer had painting done alongside a floor. The people are what customers write about. Nick — Nicholas Ferreira, whose background check Thumbtack holds — turns up by name in review after review, and so does his father, who several customers say did the installing. One homeowner this July had a ruined hallway floor replaced right before putting the house on the market; another in June wanted checkered vinyl and got it. The common thread is responsiveness and speed, and the profile lists a roughly one-hour response time. Two things to weigh. All of this sits on a single platform: there is no Google, BBB or Angi record here to cross-check it against, and 30 ratings yield only five readable accounts. And Thumbtack's own star bar shows three percent of those ratings at one star, so at least one customer had a bad experience whose account is not published anywhere you can read it. The company claims no license number, and none was verified against the Massachusetts registry. Massachusetts exempts floor-covering-only work from home improvement contractor registration, so its absence is not a mark against a flooring installer — but they also offer painting, and a one-year-old company is worth asking about insurance directly. For a vinyl, laminate or carpet install in the Boston area where speed matters, the early track record is genuinely good and the crew is a known quantity by name. Ask for proof of insurance and a written scope, and ask what happened on the one-star job.

Nick and his crew (including his very kind father!) were able to replace a ruined hallway floor right before we put our home on the market, and they even did some painting for us too! Nick is great to work with, super responsive and helpful! [Hired on Thumbtack; posted '3 weeks ago', so approx. early July 2026. Nick and his team did an awesome job replacing the carpet in my place with LVP flooring. He was super easy to work with, showed up when he said he would, and got everything done quickly. The floors look great and the whole process was really smooth. Definitely recommend J&N Flooring if youre thinking about redoing your floors. — J&N Surface Pros's reply: "Jarron, we appreciate the kind words! I'm glad you're satisfied with your new LVP install!" We own an older home and our half bath needed a little TLC. Small job about 60 sq ft. I found J&N on Thumbtack and very happy we did. They made the process so pleasant. Nick was very responsive to all my questions, he took time to walk through the process and even help me pick out the exact LVT I was looking for. On the scheduled install date they arrive on time with all necessary materials and were extremely neat. Nicks Dad installed the flooring and I couldn't be happier. Thanks so much for the fantastic job and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend J&N to anyone looking to install flooring. [Hired on Thumbtack. Loved working with this business! They really went the extra mile. They were kind, considerate, and professional. They also gave ideas and helped us figure out a plan to meet our budget and the floors came out amazing! Will definitely recommend them and will work with them in the future! [Hired on Thumbtack. Details: Laminate / 501-750 sq ft / I will purchase the materials / Home - Floor Installation or Replacement]
