J. R. Heald Builders, LLC

A 38-by-12 elevated Trex deck set on helical piles instead of concrete footings: that is the job a 2015 Houzz customer described after hiring J. R. Heald Builders, LLC, then working as J.R. Heald Custom Carpentry. That customer said the deck was finished on time and on budget, that the work started with a nine-page proposal laying out a detailed scope of work, and that Justin even ran a magnet over the yard so the customer's daughter would not step on a nail. The company describes itself on Houzz as a remodeler and custom home builder on the NH Seacoast and says the Heald family has been crafting wood for four generations. Its website lists Brentwood, Dover, Durham, Exeter, Greenland and Rye, New Hampshire, as its locations. A 2021 customer named Justin Heald as the business owner and said he helped them reach the final design for a 16-by-16 sunroom with an attached deck. A 2025 customer said Justin and his team remodeled their kitchen, with a shout-out to Rodney. A 2024 customer said the company built a 4-season room in their house. A 2022 customer said Justin and his team showed up, cleaned up and communicated well through a kitchen remodel, and that they were bringing the company back to do three bathrooms. A 2022 customer said the company found the source of a basement leak no one else could fix and replaced an exterior French door that had been installed incorrectly 20 years earlier. A 2020 customer said Justin replaced a large 3/4 wrap-around deck with composite/Trex decking and added a set of stairs, with the work completed within the proposed time frame and on budget and the old materials hauled away by dumpster. A 2019 customer said the company built a mud room, garage and screened-in porch, with Justin making suggestions during the design and building phases. A 2019 customer said J. R. Heald translated complicated architectural plans into an addition. On Google it holds 5 stars from 10 ratings, and on Houzz 5.0 from 9.
