J.T. Haffey Builders has been building in Framingham since 1979, the company says, run today by founder John Haffey with his son Mark as assistant project manager. It's D-CAMM certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for commercial work up to $10 million, and BuildZoom's permit records list nearly 500 recorded projects — this is a firm sized for more than one kitchen at a time, and a 2023 news report credits it as general contractor on a local cupola and clock tower restoration. The record customers actually left behind is rougher than that resume suggests. Google shows a 1.9-star average from nine ratings, and the specifics explain why: a 2024 review describes a South Waltham school dormitory renovation that ran months past its promised finish and disrupted the surrounding block, and a 2022 review says a quote was accepted to replace a basement beam and then went unanswered for nearly a year despite repeated messages. Houzz's one published review, from 2023, calls a post-fire apartment remodel a disaster of overcharging and unskilled work. Against that, a late-2025 review praised a same-day patio-door and bedroom-window installation and singled out the office coordinator for prompt responses, and a 2022 review from a longtime collaborator described three decades of reliable, honest work. Worth asking about directly before booking: the company has been subject to a formal OSHA inspection with two citations and roughly $8,500 in proposed penalties, and it's worth asking what's changed on the scheduling and communication side given the stalled-job pattern above. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BuildZoom separately lists an active construction supervisor license for the company. For a big remodel or commercial job, the licensing and permit history are real; for anything time-sensitive, get a firm written schedule and confirm who your point of contact will be before signing.

I had a great experience with J.T. Haffey! They installed my new patio doors and a bedroom window in just one day! I was told in advance they were booked up for 2 months but I will wait for quality work. I can understand why they book up. They are actually doing more work for me now. I really need to thank their coordinator/receptionist Penny for always responding to me so promptly and for answering all my questions! Thank you!
These guys are using my email to apply for Bank of America accounts (which was rejected). Who does this? Stop hijacking other people's emails please.
Completely incompetent and irresponsible. This company has been working in my neighborhood on a construction and renovation of a housing dormitory for school in South Waltham. They started in late November of last year and were supposed to finish by late May ‘24 - its coming up on August and they’re still working with no end in sight. Throughout the whole process, they’ve been obnoxious and inconsiderate to the neighbors in the area (abutters specifically). Always have multiple contractors on site with them and every day it seems like redoing their work from a prior day/week. Loud from dusk till dawn - are they just dragging out the project because of billables? They don’t seem trustworthy in their craftsmanship either, based on some of the other reviews here. Corruption and cheap labor at its finest..

I recently J.T.haffey construction and remodeling company to remodel my apartment after a fire in the building and it was a complete disaster. From the moment I went over the items to fix, it was clear that this company was not professional because they had no idea what the insurance covered and sent wrong information. They overcharged me for their services, and the quality of their work was terrible. The workers were unskilled and did not take pride in their work. The communication from the company was terrible and they were always slow to respond to my questions and concerns. They wasted a lot of my time, and caused many delays throughout the project. The end result was not what I had hoped for, and I was left with a poorly constructed and remodeled space. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are a complete waste of time and money. Avoid them at all costs. The company also used low-quality materials that were not up to standard. I had to spend more time and money fixing their mistakes, and the end result was still not up to my expectations. I was extremely disappointed with the entire experience, and I wish I had never hired this company in the first place. The communication from the company was also extremely poor. They never kept me informed about the progress of the project, and when I asked for updates, I was met with excuses and delays. This caused a lot of stress and frustration for me, as I was trying to plan and coordinate other aspects of the project. I would not recommend this construction and remodeling company to anyone. They do not live up to their promises, and they are not capable of delivering quality work. They are simply a waste of time and money. If you are looking for a reliable and professional company, look elsewhere.
