Jackson Glass has been cutting glass in the same corner of Boston since 1947 — first in Jamaica Plain's Jackson Square, now out of a Roslindale shop on Cummins Highway, by the company's own account. It works both sides of the trade: storefronts, curtain walls and commercial fit-outs on one hand, frameless showers, mirrors, insulated units and plain broken-window glass on the other. Speed is what customers wrote about. In a December 2023 review, a homeowner said other glass shops quoted two to three weeks to measure and repair a storm-broken window and Jackson Glass had it back in under two days. A September 2023 reviewer described the same two-day turnaround on a client's broken vinyl window and said the staff were helpful on the phone and in person. Three shorter 2022 reviews repeat the theme — fast, quick, done in no time. The other half of the picture matters just as much. Its Google page averages 4.2 stars across 21 ratings, and the two low reviews are the specific ones. In November 2024, a customer said the seal on a bay window failed about a week after the window was tinted, and that instead of a technician visit they got the explanation — not offered beforehand — that tint speeds the decline of older windows. In July 2023, an apartment tenant said their appointment was cancelled the same day after they called to ask what time the crew was coming. One thing to settle before booking: the state registry lists the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #105633, as expired. BuildZoom shows an expiration date of 07-19-1996 on an unclaimed profile it scores zero for exactly that reason. The company's own site separately claims a Massachusetts glass registration, RS0000705, and certification as a SOMWBA business — Massachusetts' minority- and women-owned business certification program — neither of which has been confirmed against a state registry here. For commercial glazing that may matter little; for home improvement work at a house, registration status is worth asking about directly. Nothing new has been written about them since late 2024, so this is a dated read rather than a current one. If you need a pane, an insulated unit or a shower enclosure measured and turned around quickly, they are a sensible call — a LinkedIn profile for one of the company's senior estimators describes it as specializing in large commercial interior fit-outs, which is where the heavier work appears to sit. Confirm the registration question and get warranty terms in writing first, particularly on tinting older windows.
“I review architectural plans of all kinds and provide pricing on all glass and glazing material. We specialize in large commercial interior fit outs.”
I am incredibly disappointed in the service Jackson Glass provided. About a week after having my bay window tinted, the seal on a window that has never given us problems suddenly failed. I called to have a technician assess it and was met with immediate defensiveness. Instead of scheduling someone to come out or even considering that perhaps the seal was inadvertently cut when my windows were tinted, I was told that tint placed on older windows always speeds up the decline of the windows (a warning not previously offered) yet the research I’ve conducted reflects results that indicate that window film itself, when properly installed, does not contribute to seal failure hence why we engaged “professionals” in the first place. If their assertion is true, I’ll be contacting the MA Office of Consumer Affairs. It is such a deceitful and unethical practice to install something knowing it will expedite the decline of the existing product especially given the winters we have in this area.
Jackson Glass is amazing, when other glass shops said it would take 2-3 weeks to measure and repair our storm broken window, they had the repaired window back to me in under 2 days!
A client of mine had a broken vinyl window that needed to be repaired. I called to confirm that was something they do and their staff was very friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. I was expecting this to take at least a week and it only took them two days. I will definitely be using them for similar repairs and shower enclosures.
very unprofessional company I called to ask what time these people were coming to my apartment although I’m not the one paying they told me to contact my leasing office for the time and date which was today 7/18/23 so I told her I need to know if not No One can come to my apartment then the lady that picks up the phone canceled my appointment today for no reason don’t waste your time here
