James M Venuti Electric Inc reports 31 years in business on its website and names Barnstable and Plymouth as its service area. On its Better Business Bureau profile, the company describes itself as specializing in wiring services for residential and commercial new home construction and additions, and in the service of existing electrical wiring. It holds an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. In a 2024 review, Jim got to the reviewer's house only minutes after a call about a flickering light issue, gave a quick consultation, and said he would be back the next day with the part for the repair. In a 2026 review, the reviewer wrote of hiring him multiple times to install ceiling fans and relocate two thermostats, and said that during both thermostat relocations he removed insulation to access the wiring and never replaced it. That 2026 review says an ice dam developed months later during a cold stretch, and that the ceiling fan installations showed insulation pulled back and never put back.

This is, in my opinion, gross negligence. I hired this electrician multiple times to install ceiling fans and relocate two thermostats. During both thermostat relocations, he removed insulation to access the wiring and never replaced it. Months later, during a cold stretch, I developed an ice dam. After investigating, I discovered exposed, uninsulated areas where the insulation had been removed and left out. I then checked the ceiling fan installations — separate jobs done at different times — and found the same thing. Insulation was pulled back and never put back. This is not cosmetic. This is basic building science. Leaving insulation out in an attic in a cold climate allows heat loss, creates condensation risk, and can directly lead to ice dams and water damage. Any licensed professional should know this. He may come across as friendly, but this kind of carelessness can cause thousands of dollars in damage. I would strongly urge anyone considering hiring him to inspect his work thoroughly or choose someone else entirely.
Jim is professional, comfortable to be around, and very efficient! He got to my house only minutes after a call to him today about a flickering light issue. He was in and out for a quick consultation and will be back tomorrow with the part for repair! How can you get better than that! 10/10 would recommend!
