Jason R Gates Construction

Jason R Gates Construction is a Shrewsbury-based general contractor holding an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (license 174336), verified against the state registry. Its permit history includes some sizable work: a five-unit, roughly $3M residential building with an underground garage in Brookline, built out from 2018 to 2021 with a certificate of occupancy issued in 2020, plus masonry cut-and-point and emergency repair work in Boston and Brighton from 2021 to 2023, a sprinkler system installation in Brookline, and an older 2013 egress replacement in Worcester. A few things worth asking about before hiring: BuildZoom's own records disagree on the status of a Construction Supervisor license tied to the business (CS-079117) — one listing shows it active as of mid-2026, another shows Massachusetts's Department of Public Safety noting the same number as cancelled at one point. BuildZoom also shows an earlier Home Improvement Contractor license (122709), separate from the currently active one, as inactive per Consumer Affairs. Given the scale of some of this work — and the mixed licensing records — it's worth confirming current license standing directly with the state and asking for references from a comparable project before signing on.
