Sixty permitted jobs, one written review. That gap is the thing to understand about JF Pansire Contracting. John Pansire has run the business out of 32 Lyndon Lane in Ashland since 1987 as a sole proprietorship with two employees, also trading as Pansire Contracting; its own Houzz page dates the work to 1989 and describes a licensed and insured firm serving Boston and MetroWest — Brookline, Dover, Needham, Newton, Wayland, Wellesley, Weston, Westwood. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #118712 is active, held in John Pansire's own name, which is the normal shape for a sole proprietor, and BuildZoom separately says it verified both that registration and a construction supervisor licence, CS-062899, active as of July 2026. The permit record is where the substance is. BuildZoom logs 60 permitted projects with a typical value around $42,500, spread across Ashland, Needham, Natick, Belmont, Arlington, Weston and Malden. What's striking is the mix: alongside deck extensions and renovations there are a lot of plumbing, HVAC and sheet-metal permits — ducted heat pumps, high-velocity systems, heating work — which is a broader mechanical range than most general contractors file under their own name. Only one customer has written anything, and it was in July 2020. That homeowner described a complete bathroom remodel — a much larger glass-and-tile shower, a floating vanity, radiant floor heat — and credited John with practical design advice on maximising the shower footprint and supplier recommendations, plus communication that held together through the COVID lockdown when work had to stop and restart. It's a good account. It is also six years old and the only one. BBB gives the business an A+ but notes it is not accredited. With a single review there is no basis for a rating here, so none is given. If you're in MetroWest and want a long-established owner-run shop with an active registration, this fits — but ask for two or three recent references, because the public record simply doesn't tell you how the last five years have gone.
John Pansire Consulting just finished a complete bathroom remodel project and we are absolutely delighted with the result. We were able to upgrade and modernize a 20 year old bathroom with a much larger glass and tile shower, a floating vanity and radiant heat on the floor. John provided practical advice during the design stage, particularly maximizing the footprint for the shower, finding realistic solutions to our specific requests and also helpful recommendations on suppliers to work with. The project started before the COVID-19 pandemic and while there was inevitable disruption due to lock-down, communication with John, throughout the project was excellent. John understood the disruption (we had moved out of our master bedroom as well) and actively tried to find solutions as issues arose. When work was able to restart, John and Tom and the subs they worked with adapted to the new situation and the necessary health and safety measures to enable the project to be completed
