Gut renovations and bathroom additions are not carpentry-only work, though, so ask specifically about a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and a construction supervisor licence for the job you have in mind, and check whatever numbers you are given against the state's own records. For a deck repair, a porch rebuild or interior painting — the work they advertise, at the scale they advertise it — this is a reasonable local shop to get a quote from, and a practical one if Spanish is the easier language in your household. For a gut renovation or an addition, lean on the permit history instead of the reviews: ask for the Somerville addresses, go look, and settle the credentials before money changes hands.
