JKA Construction

JKA Construction doesn't frame kitchens; it frames buildings. The Woburn company designs and manufactures its own wood wall panels, hauls them itself, and sets them on site, alongside siding and roofing work on new commercial and residential construction — almost always under the general contractor running the job rather than for a homeowner directly. Its site says JKA was founded in 2013 "by visionary Brazilians", names Fabio Costa as CEO and founder, and carries an MBE-certified badge whose certifying body it doesn't name. The work it is publicly attached to is multifamily. Engineering News-Record listed JKA among the subcontractors on the St. Therese project when that job took a 2023 Award of Merit for sustainability, and the New England Real Estate Journal has credited the company with framing and rough framing on condominium developments. The federal labor history is the part to weigh hardest. In January 2022 a law firm following the case reported that JKA Construction Inc. would pay punitive damages because its wage violations were willful, and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly ran the story that month under the headline "Federal court orders Massachusetts contractor to pay $438K in unpaid overtime." A U.S. Department of Labor release names JKA Construction Inc. and owners Clesio Da Silva, Fabio Da Costa, Rafael De Paula and Josias De Paula as owing a further $64,750 in civil money penalties. That was not the first time. Patch reported in November 2020 that the Department of Labor had obtained a temporary restraining order against two construction contractors after a campaign of alleged threats and retaliation against an employee who complained about not being paid overtime; the DOL's account of that order names JKA Construction Inc. among the parties it covers. Separately, OSHA's public inspection records for Jka Construction, Inc. list violations against the company including willful ones, with an initial penalty of $87,301 later reduced to $22,739. On the customer side there is almost nothing: a 5-star Google average built on four ratings, and no written accounts of any job. For a developer or general contractor sourcing panelized wood framing, this is a shop with real multifamily work behind it and a labor-compliance record that deserves direct questions — what changed after 2022, and who is responsible for site safety now. It is not set up as a homeowner-facing remodeler.
