Writing in 2024, one homeowner said they had been hiring JM Construction for 19 years. Another, in late 2023, put it at more than 30 years with Jeff McLinden. A third, in 2022, counted at least ten jobs over fifteen years on the same house. People do not hire this Framingham design-build shop once. The jobs are whole-room, not piecemeal. In reviews written between 2022 and 2026, homeowners describe a total gut of a kitchen and powder room, an upstairs remodel that turned two bathrooms into three, an unfinished basement rebuilt as finished space, another basement done with built-ins and a custom workout room, and a screened porch that ended up a four-season sunroom. The company says it has remodeled homes across Boston's MetroWest since 1986, about 40 years, and names Wellesley, Holliston, Sherborn, Weston, Dover and Needham as the towns it covers. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. What gives the reviews their texture is that customers name names. In accounts from 2024 through 2026, Jenn is credited for design and for finding materials homeowners say they would not have turned up on their own; Todd, Skipper, Steven and O'ben Jean-Philippe recur as the project managers on site; Jeff and Justin are the two people customers meet at the front end. A homeowner writing in January 2024 hit Covid-era delays and said they were communicated clearly and handled without a fight. Across 40 Google ratings averaging 4.7, one review breaks the pattern. In March 2024 a customer called the crew messy and unprofessional and said sinks were left clogged with debris. It is the only substantive complaint in a written record that runs 2022 to 2026, and it is the thing to raise on a walkthrough: how the site gets protected and cleaned day to day, and who is accountable when it isn't. BuildZoom's permit history shows 18 permitted projects, which matches the shape of the work customers describe: additions, bathrooms moved rather than refreshed, basements built out. A 2021 podcast episode described McLinden as the owner of a small high-end remodeling company in Framingham. This is the outfit for a planned, drawn-up renovation, whether that is a gut kitchen, a bathroom you want reconfigured, an addition, or a basement finished properly. It is not the number for a same-week small repair. One reviewer described plans, costs and timelines being produced before any work started; ask for that same sequence in writing, and settle site protection and cleanup expectations at the same time.
“Peter Raskin sits down with Jeff McLinden, owner of JM Construction, a small high-end remodeling company based in Framingham, Massachusetts.”
We feel incredibly lucky to have found JM Construction. They went above and beyond anything we expected – from the moment we walked in their door until the day our bathroom renovation was completed. The first person we met was designer extraordinaire, Jenn. Her sparkling, caring personality on that visit was why we decided to go with JM. She understood exactly what we wanted and found elements we never would have found on our own. No matter how busy she was, she always made time to answer our questions or drop by with more color samples. The owner, Justin, was also incredibly caring. He was always available to us. He dropped by our home more than once to check on things and get our input on how the work was going. Our project manager/master carpenter, Steve, was the best we’ve ever seen. His building skills, attention to detail, and insistence on getting everything right was exemplary. He insisted on the highest level of work from all the crews and treated them with respect. He always had a smile on his face and brought so much joy into our home while working. At the end of each day, JM cleaned up to the point you wouldn’t know they had been here. Amazing. We have been left with a beautiful bathroom and wonderful memories of JM and all the people who work for them.
If you desire amazing work delivered by an honest, clear, knowledgeable, and gifted team-- look no further than JM Construction. Our project involved a complete remodeling of our unfinished basement, and we couldn't be happier. Upon first meet, we could perceive Jeff's integrity as he talked us through the process and finances, and we noticed the caring nature with which he spoke about his team members. And that team-- simply put, blew us away. Steven was the project manager, and he is sharp as a tack. The reverence he brought to every single aspect of the work was noteworthy. His communication was stellar; he was extremely thoughtful about our space; and we always knew what to expect. Moreover- he was simply a delight of a human (our anxious pup agrees). Every worker and vendor that we interfaced with through JM was courteous in our home, and it was clear they were working hard. (Special shout out to JM's Matias, and also to Zhennaa behind the scenes for her thoughtful and classy touches!). Finally-- Jenn. The unassuming design magic of this woman is legendary. As inexperienced design people, but not without opinion, she worked beautifully and diligently with us for the entire project. Somehow she was able to integrate ideas that seemed impossible, offering her expert eye and "big picture" design sense, and there was no detail unnoticed under her watch! We are beyond grateful for the dedication of this team and the basement of our dreams!!!!
JM really hit a home-run! We wanted a screened in porch, but ended up with a luxurious four season sunroom! Jenn was great to work with for design and when we finally got started on the project Skipper was a true professional. He kept a close eye on the construction and was always available (even on off days) to clear up confusion or provide direction for an unscheduled delivery. the entire JM team have been fantastic from the beginning design phase straight through construction and to punch list and follow up. Their estimate process was clear and accurate, the design process was just what we needed to realize our dream room and we look forward to working with them again on our next project!
JM Construction did a great job with our basement home gym. O’ben in particular was excellent! He kept us updated with next steps, timing, and overall process. We would recommend JM Construction for those looking to do a home project.
I rarely write reviews, but JM fully deserves these 5 stars for their recent remodel of almost the whole upstairs of our home! The team have created 3 wonderful new bathrooms, where we originally had two, and found space from what seemed like thin air! The master en-suite JM designed with us is the spa-like space we have always dreamed about and is better than any hotel we have ever been in. We are delighted with it! JM has constructed a suite-like space for our son, with an incredible walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom, complete with a window, where there was none! In our spare room, they have created a beautiful en-suite and added a window for natural light. Working with Skipper as our project manager was an absolute pleasure. He is calm, thoughtful and an amazing problem solver. We appreciate everyone who has helped to realize our vision for what our home could be. We recommend without hesitation.
