Rob, his crew, and his subs did a fantastic job on our renovation project and we highly recommend him. We had a variety of work done on the interior and exterior of our house: rebuilding garage fascia and soffits, new garage doors, repainting the garage, new doors, new house and garage gutters, interior painting in all rooms, exterior garage painting, renovation of the laundry room, install of a minisplit for the downstairs. Rob was very responsive after initial contact and quickly provided a detailed quote (which was quite accurate). His crew and subs completed the job expeditiously. Rob was very good about communicating status and progress, and about starts for the subs. All went very smoothly with accurate costing and on-time starts and completions. Most importantly, the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail were outstanding. Not only are Rob and his crew very personable and easy to work with, so were all his subs. We recommend highly.

In short, Rob was phenomenal. We had a pipe that was leaking for quite a while, and black mold and severe water damage in a wall between our bathroom/kitchen had resulted. The water damage also affected the basement ceiling. Yuck! Rob called me back within an hour of my original message to schedule a time to come by for a quote. When he came by for the quote, he stayed for a while to thoughtfully discuss the approach. He put together the quote in a timely manner, and performed the work as scheduled, communicating regularly. He put much thought and care into the work, ensuring it was of the absolute highest quality. He coordinated with many other service providers -- tile, plaster, wallpaper, painter, town inspectors -- and everything came together beautifully. I cannot recommend Rob highly enough and look forward to hiring him in the future! Thank you so much, Rob!

Rob has done just about everything for me, from building and helping to design a "ground-up" 1,000 sq-ft addition, to custom building a four-season porch, and redesigning a small bathroom, down to simple "fix-it" jobs. I can always rely on Rob to price the job fairly and honestly, have a sharp eye for detail and quality, and maintain a clean and professional working environment. He is easy to "spitball" ideas with and has often told me when an idea wasn't worth pursuing -- an admirable trait amongst construction professionals who are incentivized to keep adding work. If you appreciate an "old school" guy with subs who he and his father have known for years, then Rob is your man.

We sent Rob the plans in advance, and he visited the home to complete a walkthrough. He had not reviewed the plans prior to his visit, nor did he have a copy of them with him. He told us we needed to rip open every outside wall in every room that was being worked on in order to replace the insulation, which was not part of the plans and would have added tremendous cost to the project. When I told him we wanted to limit costs where we could, he told me that wasn't possible in a project of this size. He estimated that the cost would be 50% more than other bids we have received so far, and pushed us to try to get the names of other contractors bidding on the project. He said he'd need to complete at least 2-3 more walkthroughs with sub-contractors, and couldn't even give us an estimate on when he might have time to work on the bid ("when I get through the stack of papers on my desk and schedule my knee surgery"). After the visit, we asked him not to bid on the project.

We hired John R Elander & Son to perform an attic renovation for our house. The work was performed by Rob Elander (John's son). The attic was completely unfinished and needed everything - floors, walls, HVAC, plumbing, bathroom, skylights etc. We got 7 estimates prior to choosing Rob. Rob's price was fair and in the lower / middle range of the other estimates. He also gave us tips on where to save money with design needs. Throughout the entire project Rob was present and punctual. He always picked up the phone to answer questions. He has an easy going personality. We always knew what the plan was for the day and week and who was coming. He was readily available at all times. The work was done very professionally. His subcontractors were professional. We had a few changes to our plans during the process which necessitated revising some of the work and plans and Rob was very willing to work with us during the process. We had periodic discussions on design issues and he was able to accomplish what we were seeking. The work was completed over 6 months ago now and we have not noticed any issues and are thrilled with the outcome. We would recommend Rob as a contractor without reservation and would use him again in the future.
