Jones Services is a Goshen, New York contractor offering electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, self-reporting service since 1986 across the Hudson Valley and parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania -- including Warwick, Middletown, Newburgh, New Windsor, Cornwall, and more than a dozen other towns. The company states its technicians are NATE certified. On the review platforms, Jones Services shows strong headline numbers: 4.8 stars from roughly 200-237 ratings each on Angi and HomeAdvisor, 4.9 stars from Google's more than 8,000 ratings, and 4.9 stars on Houzz. Reviewers frequently describe technicians -- named individuals like Mike D., Jason, Coby, and Stelia recur across dozens of reviews -- as professional, thorough, and good at explaining the work and its options before doing it. Several recent reviews describe well pump repairs, sewer line replacements, AC installations completed in as little as two days, and routine maintenance visits handled courteously. That said, the written record tells a more complicated story than the star averages alone suggest. Several detailed 2025 and 2026 reviews describe the company recommending costly, unnecessary replacements: one customer says they were sold a new boiler and a $3,000 rewiring job for a problem that turned out to need only two new valves; another says they were told a furnace part was unobtainable and sold a $7,500 replacement furnace, only to have a different company source the same part and complete the repair for under $750. Two more 2025 reviews describe plumbing jobs left with the wrong-size water lines that the company would not correct. Independently of the review platforms, several January 2026 posts in the r/hudsonvalley subreddit echo the same concerns -- one describes a $1,900, two-week-wait quote to clear a clogged line that another contractor fixed on the spot for less, and others allege a pattern of overcharging going back years. The Better Business Bureau lists the company as accredited with an A grade, but also records 9 complaints on file. Before booking anything beyond routine maintenance, it's worth getting a second opinion on any large recommended repair or replacement -- the complaints that exist are specific and consistent about upselling on bigger-ticket jobs, even though the great majority of reviews, especially for smaller service calls, are positive and the company's day-to-day technicians are well regarded. For a Hudson Valley homeowner who needs routine HVAC maintenance, a straightforward repair, or a well-reviewed technician for a defined job, Jones Services has a long track record and mostly satisfied customers -- just treat a recommendation for a major system replacement as a starting point for comparison, not the final word.
“I'd only invite Jones to your house if you need a good laugh.”
“They were $1900 (and a two week wait) to jet out a clogged line.”
“Jones has been screwing over customers for years.”
“Please read this previous post about Jones (and all the others)”
“You quoted $3,000 to fix the 'terrible' wiring and happily sold us a brand-new boiler system when it wasn't necessary.”
“Rob F. was great! He arrived at my home very quickly. He took his time and explained everything to me step by step.”
Very professional estimator. Professional organization with a lot of depth and experience. Certainly a premier dealer in the area. My experience has been that they always do the job right and you don't have to worry about it. I would recommend.
I had a situation with my mini split and I called the company Jones Services and the referred me to the technician Rick who was very professional and quick in getting back to me, he immediately guided me and took the initiative to respond to the trouble and made my trouble priority and headed over immediately. I am very happy for the quick response and personal care that was shown.
He did an excellent job.
Very professional, all well done as I expected.
Tariq G. Did an outstanding job fixing the problem that was left when the system was originally installed. I would definitely want him to work on my HVAC again.
