Joseph McWhinnie is a Medway general contractor, and in a 2024 Thumbtack review a customer said Joe rebuilt a three season porch that was separating from the house and falling apart. That 2024 customer said Joe walked them through what needed to happen to keep the sun porch structurally sound, that permitting took a bit of time, and that he completed it when he said it would be completed. A 2024 Angi customer said Joseph converted an existing deck into a screened deck and extended it, showing up every day at 8 AM and not leaving until everything was cleaned and organized. A 2024 Thumbtack customer said a new deck was built for 32,000 when others wanted triple his price, and that Joey kept it within budget. In a 2023 Angi review, a customer said Joseph replaced an old wood deck with composite decking and railings, extended part of it and reinforced the frame, and that the project took a bit longer than expected due to material delays. A 2022 HomeAdvisor customer said Joey designed, planned and built a custom composite deck for a pool, and that the permit meant going in front of the zoning board twice for a variance. A 2024 Angi customer said he renovated a basement and installed a bathroom. A 2024 Thumbtack customer said Mcwhinnie Custom Builders walked the reviewer and the reviewer's husband through a kitchen and small addition remodel. In a 2023 HomeAdvisor review, a customer said Joe installed an egress window, pulled a permit, completed the work in one week, and that the final inspection passed in 10 minutes. A 2021 Angi customer said Joe's work included making a retail cabinet look like a custom build and the frame and finish of a small home office. The BBB rates McWhinnie Custom Builders A+ and lists it as accredited since 2025. A 2024 Angi customer said the price stayed very close to the initial estimate even after extra work was discovered. A 2021 Angi customer gave half a star with the complaint "Promising one price but then increasing it."
“Joseph McWhinnie of Medway”
Great job building a new deck , I would hire him again , his price was great 32,000 others wanted triple his price, with everything being so very expensive, Joey kept it within my budget 😀😀
Mcwhinnie custom builders came to my home and walked my husband and I through our kitchen and small addition remodel. He did everything we wanted while working with our budget. I love my new kitchen! We highly recommend him and his team.
Mcwhinnie Custom Builders was an amazing and professional job he did for my house. A beautiful outdoor deck and roof. When all other companies said it couldn’t be done, Mcwhinnie Custom Builders said the opposite. On time , with price , professional and genuine caring for my home property. I would recommend to anyone to use them. Thanks again M.C.Builders !
Joseph is extremely reliable and hands on when it comes to customer communication as well as satisfactory work. He likes to guarantee the job being done right the first time, and backs it up with the quality wood work he produces on each job site he runs. Joseph has worked in the carpentry field for close to 25 years and his craftsmanship speaks for its self.
Joe rebuilt my three season porch. It was on the house when we purchased it, so, it was already existing. Unfortunately for us the home inspector missed the poor Construction of it as well as the fact that it was separating from the house and falling apart. Joe stopped by to create an estimate for me and walked us through the entire process of what needed to happen in order to keep the sun porch and have it be structurally sound. The process did take a bit of time due to permitting Etc but in the end Joe explained exactly what needed to happen, the process that it was going to go through as well as a pretty precise timeline. Overall we are thrilled he did what he said he was going to do and completed it when he said it was going to be completed which is very rare with the limited experience I've had previously with contractors. Good job Joe look forward to seeing you in the fall to build our outdoor kitchen.
