KB Carpentry is a Plymouth, MA deck-and-porch outfit with an unusually clean five-year run: 56 Google ratings, all five stars, and 43 written reviews from 2021 to 2026 without a single complaint among them. The company says owner Ken Braun, who grew up in Plymouth and spent years working for a local builder before starting the business in 2019, still works the jobs himself -- several reviewers mention him personally on site. Decks are the throughline: composite and TimberTech replacements, Azek resurfacing, cable and picket railings, porch enclosures. The same names keep returning -- in a 2023 review, one homeowner described having KB rebuild a main deck the year before, then come back to redo the bedroom and front deck; in a 2022 review, another described three separate projects, a finished basement followed by two later rounds of window, door and siding work. A 2026 review describes KB stepping in to finish a deck's skirting and stair framing after the client's prior contractor fell ill mid-project. The work goes beyond decks when reviewers describe it: a full roof and exterior trim replacement in a 2022 review, a new roof with four skylights in a 2021 review, and window, door and siding replacement recurring across several years. A 2025 review recounts a $30,000 accessibility ramp and entrance-stairs job for a downtown Plymouth commercial building, finished on schedule with no added costs. The reviews that go into the most detail describe the process as much as the result -- daily photo updates, handling town-board permitting directly, and, in a 2025 review, proactively resolving a manufacturer defect on a French-door order before installation began. Both of Ken Braun's Massachusetts registrations -- the Home Improvement Contractor number and the Construction Supervisor License -- check out active against the state registry, and the company's BBB file, while not an Accredited Business, carries an A+ grade with no complaints on file. Nothing in five years of reviews raises a real concern; the only practical thing to ask about is scheduling, since a small, hands-on crew like this can book out during deck season. For a South Shore or Cape homeowner planning a new deck, a porch rebuild, or carpentry on an older house, KB Carpentry's own history -- repeat customers, an owner who works the jobs, and years of specific, named-project reviews -- is about as clean a track record as this trade produces. Confirm timeline and material choice (composite, TimberTech and Azek all show up in past projects) before booking.
KB Carpentry did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend Ken and his crew. A year ago I had another contractor remodel and extend my then pressure treated deck to composite. Long story short, my contractor fell ill and could not finish the deck skirting and redue the picture framing on two sets of stairs. KB Carpentry was able to come in and complete the deck and stairs within a day and a half. I am looking forward to working with KB Carpentry in what I hope to be in the near future. Thank you again.
KB Carpentry did a fabulous job of resurfacing our deck at a reasonable price with a high quality of workmanship. I highly recommend Ken and his crew.
Ken replaced the decking on my front porch in 2025. When my fiancee wanted to finish the unfinished walk-up attic to provide a work area, I gave Ken a call. I gave him the basic requirements and he was able to come up with a plan to provide a work area, a relaxation area and a 3/4 bath. The floor joists needed significant strengthening, the room needed to be squared off and the room need to be sealed. We also had to run water up, send drainage down and provide power to the room. His crew was able create an absolutely awesome room. I am still amazed how he fit a 3/4 bathroom into the area. I highly recommend Ken.
i Had KB build a large 1100 sq ft deck of timber tec . excellent work all around . These guy are not just builders they are master craftsman with attention to detail and making sure the job is done right , on time and all to code . Ken the owner works the job himself and is an enthusiastic. and comprehensive communicator throughout the planning and building process. i could not be happier with the final result.
KB Carpentry repaired our deck for us. They were amazing to work with. They were very professional, communicated timetables, and did great work. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.
