Ask around Plymouth about custom built-ins or a basement finish and Mike Freeland's name comes up — reviewers use the same word again and again: precision. Freeland Woodworks is a small carpentry crew based in Plymouth that customers hire for everything from custom cabinets and fireplace mantels to full basement additions with in-law space. Across 70 Google reviews collected from 2021 through 2026 — all five stars — the specifics repeat: cabinets built around fireplaces, staircases redone with matching crown molding, decks and pergolas framed from scratch, closets and pantries rebuilt around real storage needs. A 2025 review recounts Mike being the only contractor, out of several who quoted a farmer's porch job, to notice the porch itself was sinking — and fixing that before finishing the trex decking and railings. Another 2025 review describes him taking over and repairing a renovation a previous contractor had left in bad shape. The company also takes on larger commercial work: one 2025 review describes a full dental-office renovation — new flooring, cabinets, countertops and trim — completed with only two days of office closure. Several customers describe hiring the company again and again over five-plus years, for a run of separate projects rather than one job. Its BBB profile carries an A+ rating and accredited-business status. There's not much to flag: no negative account or complaint turns up anywhere in the record. On bigger jobs — basement or home additions — Mike is described handling design choices and permitting directly, worth asking about upfront if timeline matters. For custom carpentry, built-ins, or a full basement or addition project in the Plymouth area, this is a well-documented, consistently reviewed shop.
Mike and his crew replaced the structural support posts on our deck. They were professional, communicated well throughout the project, kept the site clean, and the finished work looks great. We’re very happy with the quality of the work and would recommend Freeland Woodworks.
Mike is responsive, straightforward, and honest — the kind of contractor who gives you a real answer and not just a sales pitch. As a fellow tradesman, that matters more than most people realize. When I talk to him about work, it's clear he genuinely cares about doing things right, not just doing things fast. If you need a general contractor in the Plymouth area, especially for carpentry, decks, or remodeling, I'd send my own friends and family his way. That's about the highest recommendation I can give.
Mike just finished a bathroom renovation for me and I could not be more satisfied with the finished results. Mike and his crew were professional and dependable. Highly recommend Freeland Woodworks.
We recently called Freeland Woodworks for an exterior remodel on our home in Plymouth, and the results exceeded every expectation we had going into the project. From start to finish, the entire process was handled with professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to quality craftsmanship. The window installation alone has completely transformed both the look and feel of our home. Not only do they enhance the exterior aesthetic, but we’ve already noticed a significant improvement in insulation and natural light inside. The team took great care to ensure the triple window was perfectly fitted and sealed, and their precision really shows. The new doors are equally impressive—solid and secure. They’ve added a level of curb appeal that we didn’t realize was possible, while also improving functionality and energy efficiency. It’s clear that only high-quality materials were used. My favorite part, and what truly ties everything together is the exterior trim work. The craftsmanship here is outstanding. Every line is clean, every joint seamless, and the finishing details give the home a polished, cohesive look that stands out in the neighborhood. Beyond the work itself, the crew was punctual, respectful, and communicative throughout the entire project. They kept the job site clean and made sure we were informed at every stage. It’s rare to find a team that combines skill, reliability, and customer care so well. If you’re considering an exterior remodel in Plymouth, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Freeland Woodworks. The transformation of our home has been remarkable, and the quality of work speaks for itself. Thank you Mike.
Mike and his crew just finished a build-out of our existing pantry that had been outfitted with inappropriate shelving and had lots of wasted space. Mike drew up plans based on our input, and carried them out with care and precision. Each day, the crew arrived on time, worked until it was time to leave, cleaned the area and removed trash each day before they left. The lines of communication were always open, too, so everything went smoothly. The result is a beautiful pantry with lots of storage area. I could not be more thrilled. Thanks, Freeland Woodworks!
