KBA Contracting Enterprises is a Pawtucket general contractor whose written reviews tell two very different stories, both from Houzz and both years old. In a January 2014 review, a homeowner described having their entire house remodeled by KBA: the job was itemized, they designed the overall look themselves, the crew was respectful, and the six-month project finished on schedule and on budget, with the company checking in whenever something turned up that would affect the budget. A November 2016 review went the other way. That customer said they chose KBA for a substantial remodel in June and stopped talking to other contractors, spent eight weeks on quotes and contracts, and then in August got a call from Bruce at the company saying KBA would not go ahead with the job, with no reason given. After that, they wrote, calls, texts and emails to their KBA contacts went unanswered. On its BBB and Houzz profiles, the company describes itself as a residential and commercial contractor handling remodeling and renovations, additions, kitchens and bathrooms, roofing, windows and decks. Its BBB grade is A+, and Google shows 5 stars from 2 ratings. The Rhode Island registry lists the company's home improvement contractor licence, GC-33508, as expired; Houzz lists licence number 33508.

We contacted KBA in May to get a quote for a substantial home remodel. In June we told them that we planned to work with them, and stopped conversations with other potential contractors. We spent the next 8 weeks getting quotes finalized and contracts worked up. In August, in the midst of contract negotiations, we got a phone call from Bruce (the owner) saying that they were not going to go ahead with the job, without giving a reason. That was the last time we spoke to anyone at the company. Bruce must have told all of our KBA contacts not to talk to us because they all ignored phone calls, texts, and emails. They wasted an enormous amount of our time that we could have spent talking to other contractors. Incredibly unprofessional company and would never consider hiring them again. Thank goodness we found out how unprofessional they were before we made the mistake of signing a $200,000 contract with them!
We had our entire house remodeled and KBA was great, we itemized the entire job, I was able to design the overall look and feel, they were priced very well and the communication was awesome, were were consulted if something was found that would affect the budget. The work was done orderly and the crew was respectful and courteous. The job took 6 months and was right in schedule. Everything was on budget. I would recommend them again.
