Kells Construction is a Milton, MA general contracting company that says it has been run by founder Martin Deane for more than 30 years, specializing in new construction, renovations, additions, and restorations. The company describes itself as owner-operated, with Deane personally working with each client. A 2017 review on BuildZoom described a bathroom remodel with Deane as an easy, well-run job — a marked improvement over a previous contractor on the same house — and recommended the company. Houzz lists Kells as a Milton general contractor working in home remodeling, additions, and custom homes across Newton and eight other towns, and it also carries a 2011 Dream Home Gold Award for a period-homes exterior makeover. BuildZoom shows 11 permitted projects and Houzz shows 7 project photos on file. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#140966) is active on the state registry, matching the licence BuildZoom lists for the company. This is a solid call for a homeowner planning a renovation, addition, or custom build who wants direct access to the owner throughout the project; get a written scope and timeline, and ask to see recent project photos or speak with a past client before signing.
I would highly recommend Kells Construction. It was my second try at remodeling my bathroom and it was such an easy experience with Martin Deane from Kells Construction, as compared with the first contractor I had which was a complete disaster. Martin Deane is the owner and he was professional, efficient and pleasant and very helpful to deal with. He has worked all over Greater Boston and even offered solutions and advice on design issues while letting you have the final decision on how things come out. He stands behind his work and is not a contractor that disappears once the work is completed. He lives in Milton too so that adds to his accessability. The only piece of advice I would offer is that the homeowner has a budget in mind to see if that amount is something Martin feels he can give you what you want in the confines of that budget.
