Kinsella Built is a Brookline-based custom construction and renovation company serving Boston-area homeowners. Its own site says the company is fully licensed and insured and has more than 20 years of experience; directory profiles identify a Brookline address, list veteran-owned status, and name kitchen, bathroom, basement, whole-home remodeling, and additions among its services. Homeowners describe detailed residential work rather than one narrow repair trade. Reviews from 2022 through 2025 discuss kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, basement finishing, structural work, flooring, electrical and plumbing coordination, and a three-family modular project in Cambridge. Across the dated reviews, customers repeatedly mention responsive communication, careful workmanship, schedule control, and clear cost discussions. A 2025 review specifically praises a bathroom project for staying on budget, while 2023 reviews describe a seven-month addition and basement project and a major Cambridge build. The public profiles also show concrete work history: BuildZoom lists 13 projects and recent permits for kitchens, bathrooms, siding, basements, and other residential renovations. The official site highlights custom cabinetry, built-ins, trim, decks, patios, tile, and wood floors. Before booking, confirm the exact scope, current license status, and which team members and subcontractors will be assigned, especially for projects involving structural, electrical, or plumbing work. BuildZoom lists Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license #196736 as active as of April 2026, while its EPA dust-sampling license entry is marked inactive. Kinsella Built looks suited to homeowners planning a coordinated renovation, addition, or custom interior build in the Boston area. Ask for a current written scope, schedule, cost controls, insurance details, and any permits required for the proposed work.
We had a terrific experience. John was very helpful and responsive and we highly recommend using them.
John and his crew were amazing. We LOVE our new bathroom. I have nothing but good things to say. They were on time, in budget, and the result is fantastic. John was super communicative and reachable throughout the whole project. He responded immediately when we had questions or concerns. He was super straightforward with costs too, so there were not surprises. His crew was also very nice and respectful. I would absolutely use them again, and recommend them to everyone I know.
I couldn't have asked for a better team to help with my project! Grainne, John and James were incredible to work with. They supported us through every step of the way - very responsive, detail oriented and efficient. They offered their professional input while respecting our needs, and I really appreciate that they always had my best interest in mind. I was so impressed that everything stayed on schedule and completed in just 6 weeks (full kitchen and bathroom remodel, installed new floors, and repainted the whole apartment). This was my first home renovation and have heard that things rarely stay on schedule, so we were really lucky to work with Kinsella Built!!
Kinsellabuilt was amazing when working on our 1950s home that needed significant work (full floor joist, plumbing, electric, interior walls, etc.) We worked with directly with Jon who was fantastic, explaining the process to us ever step of the way and making an incredibly stressful situation significantly easier. The price was reasonable, and they were incredibly accommodating to our needs. We would 100% recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their home.
Kinsella Built was great! So good that we have recommended them to all of our friends (now that is a true testimonial of their work). Our job was significant. We put on an addition to the house, created an open concept inside and finished our basement. The entire job was 7 months. Yet each day they showed such work ethic; always showing up at 7AM and putting in a full day work. They were professional, created a very quality product, were reasonable and finished the job on time. You can't ask much more of that from a contractor. For all of our future construction products, we will be going with Kinsella. Thank you to James & John (and Ian, and crew) for their wonderful work. We love our "new" home!
