When Simba finished a job in June 2026, the homeowner wrote that her kids missed the crew. Simba's customers tend to do that — name the specific people who did the work, and then say they want them back. Bilal Coban, Kenny, Estuardo, Pedro, Ramiro, Sandy, Dmitrii, and Christine coordinating: the same names run through five years of reviews.
Simba General Contractors is a family-owned company in Jamaica Plain doing residential and commercial remodeling, new construction, additions and exterior work — roofing, siding, porches and decks — along with painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and flooring.
The work spans most of what a Boston triple-decker or condo throws up. Over 700 square feet of unfinished attic turned into two bedrooms and a bathroom in December 2025. An unfinished Roslindale basement made into living space in May 2026. An interior wall taken out in April 2026 to join a living room and office; an upstairs landing closed in that same month to make an office and gym; a load-bearing wall removed in a 2023 project alongside new lighting, a pantry and a bathroom. Outside: a two-level deck with an interconnected staircase in October 2025, and in 2021 three porches — a side stairway replaced, structural repairs to the back porch, rotted sections of the front one rebuilt.
Small jobs get the same treatment. A ceiling fan and baseboards chewed by a puppy in October 2025. A cracked basement window measured, ordered and fitted in July 2025. A shower floor repaired and retiled in August 2025. One Jamaica Plain condo owner has been calling them for repairs for years.
Two details worth knowing. Simba carries the trades itself: an April 2025 island vent hood took ducting, electrical work and ceiling patching and painting, and a July 2025 gut bathroom in a JP condo ran six weeks and finished on time with the plumbing handled in house. And in a 2023 review, a customer whose kitchen was damaged by a neighbour's radiator described zipped plastic curtains that kept the plaster dust out completely, leaving the kitchen usable throughout.
The one sharp complaint is recent and specific. In March 2026 a reviewer writing on behalf of a building, signed Regina, said Simba supplied wrong and cheap equipment that caused a large leak across apartments on all four floors, that some residents had to move out for a time, and that the building intended to complain to the Better Business Bureau. On Reddit the picture is the other way: a May 2026 commenter in r/CambridgeMA said Simba had renovated nearly every room of their home and done a great job, and a 2023 r/boston commenter called their prices fair and honest while their kitchen was being redone.
Simba is a strong call for a Boston-area renovation with several trades in it — an attic conversion, a gut bathroom, a deck and porch package — where you want one company and a named point of contact. Ask about the March 2026 building job and how that equipment was specified, and get fixtures and materials written into the contract by make and model.
