“Laceys Carpet, South Burlington.”
This business has changed owners. We have brought our Persian carpets to be cleaned by Lacy's for years. This time was very different. The edges of all three carpets that were cleaned were dry and crumbling rugs are wrinkly and not laying flat. These rugs are antiques. Won't return.
I was just about to drop off my very expensive wool carpet to be cleaned when I decided to look into Lacey’s reviews. I was appalled hearing about all the recent horror stories! I have been taking my carpets there for decades. I’m lost. 😕
After 15 years as a customer, I am done. I dropped off a rug for cleaning on 11/5 and didn’t get it back until 12/23, nearly seven weeks later. I was told it would be ready for pick up in 2 weeks. I called repeatedly in that time asking when it would be ready and was told it was “in the drying room” and I should call back to see when it would be ready. Each time I called back, I was told it was being cleaned again or in the drying room. Upon pick up I was told it was cleaned five separate times, which caused irreversible damage. It was not dirty enough to be cleaned twice, never mind 5 separate times. The rug was returned with unraveling edges, failed binding, and curling corners. It was in good condition when dropped off. It is now ruined. Completely unusable. This is not normal wear; it is the result of improper cleaning practices. I called to speak to the owner to see what could be done about destroying my rug. The new owner told me rudely, he "cleaned my rug" and “Planned to do NOTHING about it” and to come pick it up. The business is under new ownership and whatever standards existed before are clearly gone. If you were a long-term customer like I was, be warned: the quality and care are no longer there. I regret trusting them with something simple and I can't imagine using them for a large carpet install, or anything else ...as evident by the many other poor reviews here. Save yourself time, money and a headache and go anywhere else.
I have used Lacey’s multiple times over a few decades. I was always pleased with them. I more recently recarpeted much of my downstairs with an expensive wall-to-wall carpet. The carpet is bulging and pulling away from the floor, causing a potential tripping hazard as well as looking unsightly. A year ago I had a representative visit the house to address this problem. The carpet had been this way for several months. I was a few days out of a spinal surgery operation and was trying to make sure I didn’t fall. The rep immediately blamed me as I’d needed to use a walker for several days during recuperation. I explained that the carpet had been like that for a few months. It was still deemed my fault. In the fall of 2024, I was told that I would be given a quote to fix the carpet, at my expense. Nonetheless, it needed to be done. I’ve called multiple times requesting follow up. I’ve been repeatedly told that someone would get back to me. It’s a year later, and I’ve still heard no word from them. I’ve had lots of other carpeting and never experienced such a problem. This is not quality service at all. I understand shortages of workers. This goes beyond that. I will never use Lacey’s again in spite of the great service I’ve had prior to this.
Our team has worked with this flooring company while they tackle a huge living room project, we were amazed by their work.
