A 2022 Google customer who hired Larry Deschene for floor work in their first home in Connecticut gave the business one star. That customer said Larry damaged the baseboards and almost every wall, and that their painter quoted an additional $8k to repair the damage. The 2022 customer also wrote that the walls around an area where brick was demoed to install additional hardwood were severely damaged, and that the wrong species of pine went into a hallway and did not match the rest of the house. The 2022 customer said they fired Larry part way through the job, after more than 3 weeks in the home without the 3,300 sq ft fully sanded. In that 2022 account, four floor professionals who came in to quote finishing the job commented on the sanding, and it all had to be redone because the correct grit was not used and it was uneven. The 2022 customer said they had paid a 50% deposit directly to Larry, and that their tile guy reported the demo crew Larry hired throwing the demoed brick into the bushes.
I purchased my first home in Connecticut and started renovating it while still living in California. I gave Larry the option of going before or after my painter and he said “it makes no difference, we do both options all the time”. So I scheduled Larry to do my floors after my painting crew. Larry damaged all of the baseboards and almost every single wall- my painter has quoted me an additional $8k to repair the damage this business did to my home. Not only that- but they severely damaged the walls around the area they demoed brick to install additional hardwood. They installed the incorrect species of pine in that hallway and it doesn’t match the rest of the house so I’m going to have to pay a few thousand to have that ripped and replaced. Unfortunately I also had to fire Larry part way through the job. He was in my home for over 3 weeks and hadn’t even full sanded it (3300 sq ft). And I was really worried that if he continued working in my home there would be additional damage. I had 4 floor professionals come in to quote what it would cost to finish the job and every singe one of them commented on the terrible sand job Deschene Flooring did. It all had to be re-done bc he didn’t use the correct grit and it was uneven. I’m out so much money from hiring this company- including the 50% deposit I paid directly to Larry. They didn’t take care of my home the way they promised they would. Every single trades person who was working on my home while this crew was in there would call and complain on them- my tile guy called me one day stating the demo crew Larry hired was throwing the demoed brick into my bushes! Oh- and apparently one of the guys from that demo crew ( Larry was not there to oversee which is a big ball drop on his end) was bragging to one of my painters that he was Larry’s son and was just convicted of a felony and was “stacking cash” until he has to go to jail. I’m literally so appalled that Larry gave a felon awaiting jail time KEYS TO MY HOME.
