A piano moved and the crew gone in under fifteen minutes, newly finished hardwood floors covered before anything came through the door — that September 2023 review is a fair sketch of what Liberty Movers gets hired for around Worcester. The company works out of 99 Huntoon Memorial Highway in Rochdale and says it was founded in 1920, is family owned and operated, and is the oldest and largest mover in the region; it also says it operates as an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines, which is how it handles moves beyond Central Massachusetts. The office staff get named as often as the crews do. Patty comes up again and again for setting up moves and keeping people posted on timing, most recently in a May 2026 review that also credits the crew for careful handling. A 2023 customer moving aging parents from Massachusetts to Virginia walked through the whole chain by name — Paul for the quote, Patty for scheduling, Jamie's crew for the move itself, and Paul again to sort out a billing discrepancy. Another 2023 customer said Rob, Paul and Sammy wrapped everything in blankets, stacked it precisely, and asked questions until they had it right. The complaints are worth reading before you book, and one is serious. A January 2025 reviewer says the company acknowledged that an employee took a valuable antique rug during their move, and that no restitution was offered afterwards; the review quotes the head of the company on getting police involved when a theft is reported. Separately, an August 2024 customer says several large items were left behind — a gas grill that had been discussed both at the estimate and on move day, plus other items and some of Liberty's own equipment. A 2022 reviewer disputes a fuel charge and says the quote came in thousands above what they expected, and another that year describes a rude, dismissive phone call when asking about storage. A 2023 customer hit a scheduling problem, but says the owner rang over the weekend and made it right. On price the record leans the other way: a May 2025 customer called the pricing excellent for a two-bedroom apartment into a house, and 2023 reviewers describe it as reasonable and fair for the work done. The company lists BBB accreditation, ATA, MSC and MMA membership, and several Bekins agent awards; those are its own statements, as are the registration numbers on its site, none of which are confirmed here. For a Central Massachusetts household or piano move this is a long-established, well-staffed option — get the full inventory written into the estimate, confirm nothing is being left behind, and ask how claims for damage or loss are handled before the truck loads.
These guys were fantastic to work with. Patty from the office was pleasant, diligent and caring about my move. The movers themselves were hardworking, friendly and took great care of my items during the move. Totally worth hiring!
Todd is the best! Very helpful, knowledgeable, and hard-working!
Really great experience with the crew at Liberty Movers - super impressed with how careful they were (not a single thing got dinged up or broken), and how insanely efficient at moving items/ loading the truck. They were even able to deal with a tricky couch removal with no issues. Absolute pros! Would hire them again in a second!
Pricing was excellent for a 2 bedroom apartment to a home. The movers worked quickly and efficiently. They were very professional.
"Whenever we have something reported Stolen to us we immediately get the police involved" writes Steve Fontaine, head of Liberty Movers in an email to me. Run don't walk from this company. Steve did admit an employee stole a valuable antique rug during my move, and the Crew Chief had been in touch with the crew member who took it, but the company then refused to make any gesture of restitution to me perhaps because the rug was supposed to be donated to Restore. The company knew the rug had been taken and by whom, and then forced a police investigation. "Maybe the person who took it didn't think it mattered", Steve said. I had used Liberty years ago. They are no longer honest or trustworthy. Perhaps all moving companies have thieves in their employ, but reputable companies would take responsibility for working with a customer. Liberty knew exactly who took this item and when, then refused any responsibility. I worked for six months to settle this amicably and avoid this review. Do Not Trust this company with ANYTHING you value. Katie Keene
