A rescue dog marked a brand-new sectional, and by that customer's February 2025 account Loftus had an in-home cleaner there within two hours. That is the half of this business people forget: the Plymouth shop sells and installs the carpet, then comes back years later to clean it. Loftus describes itself as a third-generation, family-owned flooring retailer and installer that has served Plymouth and Duxbury, and the wider South Shore and Cape Cod, since 1968 — 58 years by its own count. It sells and installs carpet, vinyl, hardwood and LVT, and cleans carpet, upholstery, ceramic tile and rugs. On Google it holds 4.8 stars from 48 ratings. One name carries the reviews: Jess, who is named in about half of them. A March 2026 customer, on their second project with the company, said she guided them through selecting both carpet and floor. In a 2021 review a homeowner described her arriving with samples, walking them through the differences and taking the measurements so the whole order was placed in one day; a January 2025 customer said she was onsite during the installation itself. The work runs wider than wall-to-wall carpet. A May 2025 customer had the carpets taken off an entire second floor and pre-finished hardwood installed, with deadlines met. April 2025 reviews cover runners on two sets of stairs and carpet on a newly finished third floor, and a September 2025 family picked a carpet to stand up to a growing family and two dogs, measured and installed within a few weeks. It isn't all houses, either: a preschool's new floor and carpet went in according to a January 2025 review, and an assisted living community wrote in April 2025 that it had been using Loftus for about a year. Two one-star reviews, both from 2023, are worth knowing about. One is about the workmanship: a customer whose property management company hired the company said their workman Dave did an absolutely terrible job installing and fixing the floors, and that Jess showed up early and had left the area by the time they called back fifteen minutes later. The other is about money: a family who had the carpet cleaned at their recently passed mother's home said they paid within 30 days of the bill and then, seven months later, got several increasingly rude phone calls demanding payment. For a South Shore homeowner who wants one outfit to help pick the carpet, install it, and come back when the dog gets to it, this is a straightforward call. Ask who will be doing the installation and how a callback is handled if the finish work isn't right, and keep the paid invoice where you can find it.
