The foyer tile on a March 2026 job came out, in the homeowner's words, perfectly aligned and beautifully cut. A customer with irregular limestone tiles in April 2026 said Lou and his son took the extra steps to make them work, on a tight schedule. Forty-four years in, the offer is still the same two men on site: Lou Zottola and his son. Tile and marble is the whole trade — ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and mosaic, backsplashes, bathroom and kitchen tile, grout repair and replacement, countertops, and tub and shower installs, worked out of Waltham and Lexington. Thumbtack rates the company 4.8 across 100 reviews and named it a Top Pro in 2019 and 2021; Angi and HomeAdvisor carry the same 57 reviews, also at 4.8. Communication is what the recent customers keep coming back to. An April 2026 reviewer said Lou acknowledges a question even when he cannot answer it right away, and tells you in advance if the schedule shifts. A February 2020 customer had him at the house within 12 hours of the request, looking at a kitchen backsplash and then, while he was there, at the pink bathroom she had been putting off. A February 2018 customer said the crew called ten minutes before every arrival. One January 2026 customer put it the other way — he was not in touch every day while the work ran — but said he was honest when problems came up, and that the bathroom came out beautiful. Nail the price down in writing. A May 2019 customer said an $800 quote finished at $1,100. An October 2018 customer said Lou asked to raise the quote by about 30 percent, to $1,000, once he arrived, then did the job at the original estimate when the customer would not agree. Angi's own profile flags the same thing across a couple of its reviews. One more item to raise. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts general contractor and home improvement contractor registration, #174981, as expired since April 2015, and reports that the state's consumer affairs office recorded the status as cancelled at one point. Ask about it, and about insurance, before a bathroom or kitchen job of any size. A strong choice for tile you want cut and set precisely — a backsplash, a stone floor, a shower surround — around Waltham and Lexington, where the man who quotes the job is the man who does it. “Louis Zottola for tile installation”
We hired Lou and his son to remove our old backsplash and install a new one, and we’re very happy with the results. They were professional, easy to work with, and the quality of the finished work was excellent. The project was completed as expected, and the new backsplash looks great. I would not hesitate to reach out to them again for future tile work and would gladly recommend them to others.
Lou and his son did a great job installing our new kitchen backsplash. Lou exceeds all contractor communication expectations. He responds quickly to questions, acknowledges receipt of a question even if he can’t respond right away and notifies you in advance if there is a change in plans and shows up when he says he will. Lou works with his son, their work was outstanding and are both personable and easy to work with. I highly recommend considering them for your tiling needs.
Lou and his son were great to work with. They got my project done quickly on a tight schedule, and took the extra steps to make the irregular limestone tiles work out. Thank you!!
Outstanding craftsmanship and professionalism. From the first day to completion, he and his son demonstrated expertise, precision, and pride in their work. The tile layout in my foyer is impeccable — perfectly aligned, beautifully cut, and executed with razor-sharp accuracy. The space now looks elegant and elevated thanks to their skill. They were prompt, courteous, and meticulous. I would confidently recommend them to anyone seeking high-end tile installation done right.
Lou was not responsive daily with the work but also was honest if challenges came up during the work he was doing. Our bathroom looks beautiful- we are very happy with work.
