Most of what people hire Macpherson Mechanical for arrives in a box. A dishwasher from Lowe's, a dryer that needs a gas line run to it, an oven that has to be fitted into existing cabinetry — Scott Macpherson does the hookup, and in customer accounts he shows up as the installer a retailer sent rather than a contractor the homeowner went looking for. The Quincy company is run by Scott and Steven Macpherson, and BuildZoom counts 1,252 permitted projects under its name. When those jobs land well, they land fast. A homeowner writing in December 2024 described a gas line and shut-off valve fitted for a new dryer at a rate they called reasonable. A 2021 customer said that after Lowe's failed to deliver the necessary gas lines, he drove to the store, picked them up himself and hooked up the dryer the same visit. A 2019 kitchen faucet swap and a 2017 water heater pump read the same way — in and out, clean. Two accounts should slow a homeowner down, and both are from late 2023. One customer wrote that a dishwasher drain hose was secured with electrical tape and too loose a clamp, slipped off about six weeks after the install and caused significant water damage to the ceiling below; the reply, they said, was a 30-day warranty and no accountability. That same autumn another described sawed hardwood floors, a butchered cabinet base and chipped countertops during an oven installation. A third customer, in early 2021, was satisfied with the install itself but said six calls about follow-up work went unreturned. The written history runs from 2011 to December 2024, all of it on one BuildZoom page, so there is nothing current to set against those 2023 complaints. BuildZoom also lists a string of Massachusetts licence numbers for the company — an electrician licence, plumbing entries, and two separate home improvement contractor registrations it marks inactive — none of which was confirmed against the state registry here. If what you need is an appliance connected on a firm date, that is the work this company does most. Put the scope, the warranty term and who covers damage in writing before anyone starts, and check the licence status with the state yourself.

Scott installed a gas line and shut off valve for our new dryer. He was personable, amazingly knowledgeable and efficient. His rate was very reasonable. I would highly recommend him.

$310 — Was recommend by NE Appliance in Braintree after I purchased a dishwasher from them. Scott secured the dishwasher drain hose with electrical tape and too loose of a hose clamp to the tailpiece of the drain line under my sink, causing it to slip off and fail about 6 weeks after install, and causing significant water damage to the unit's ceiling below. He took zero accountability for all of this and said "it is what it is" during my phone call with him. Said he only warranties his work for 30 days. Absolutely would not recommend working with him.

Sawed through my hardwood floors and butchered the bottom of my cabinetry and chipped my countertops when installing an oven. Was the recommended delivery and installer from NE appliance in Braintree.

Scott installed a dishwasher that I bought through Lowes. He was quick, neat, and courteous as well as made sure we had no questions about maintenance or usage. He had to deal with the Braintree Building inspector being a jerk and was polite with us throughout.

Install Dryer — Scott was super helpful in installing a new dryer I bought through Lowe's. Lowe's botched the delivery process but Scott was willing to go to the store and pick up the necessary gas lines and then come over to my place to hook up the dryer. He was very helpful over the phone - coordinating with Lowe's himself, and saved us a lot of time by picking up the parts himself when Lowe's should've delivered them but failed to do so. He installed our dryer quickly, cleanly, and professionally - and gave us some tips on vent line maintenance. He arrived right when he said he would too. Very much appreciate his work and assistance in getting this done.
