Mari Woods runs a boutique design showroom in Portsmouth, and what comes out of it is custom work: built-in cabinetry and design for kitchens, baths and the living spaces around them, in the company's own words. New Hampshire Home has written about her twice — in an August 2024 article the magazine credits her with a new plan and a new look that made one kitchen the heart of the home again. The written accounts run back a decade and they are dated, but they describe the same way of working. In May 2014, a client wrote that they used Mari Woods for the kitchen, all five baths and a guest suite kitchenette, and could not be happier with the result. In October 2015, another said she was on top of every detail of the remodeling and design work, and that the final outcome exceeded their expectations. A September 2017 homeowner was thrilled with a new kitchen and described her as dedicated to detail and personable from the start. The newest written account, a July 2024 Google review, says a just-completed project more than surpassed the goal of a beautiful and functional space. The trade knows her too. A November 2017 Houzz review comes from RE Marble & Granite, a stone subcontractor to kitchen-and-bath professionals, calling her a trusted and loyal business partner of many years. An October 2018 New Hampshire Home article describes her working in close collaboration with Belavitch on texture and style, with Belavitch choosing travertine tile for the kitchen floor. Houzz carries 5.0 stars from 15 ratings and 15 posted projects, lists her as a National Kitchen & Bath Association member, and gives her service area as the New Hampshire Seacoast and nearby Maine; Google shows 5 stars from three ratings. What to settle before you call: her own site describes a design showroom built around custom cabinetry and design, so get clear at the outset on which parts of a renovation her team carries and which trades come in from outside — the stone work behind that 2017 review came from a subcontractor. If your house sits past the Seacoast or over the Maine line, confirm she covers it. For a kitchen or a bath where the design and the cabinetry are the whole point, and where you want one person tracking the details, Mari Woods is a natural call. Ask to walk through a recent project, and pin down the cabinetry schedule and cost before you sign.

We recently completed a project that more than surpassed our goal of a beautiful and functional space that fits in with the vibe of our mid-century home. We worked with kitchen designer Mark Gillies for nearly a year to move from inspiration photo to reality. Every small decision was thoughtfully and thoroughly discussed. There were no surprises just complete satisfaction with the process and product. Highly recommend!

Ron and I are thrilled with our new kitchen!!! We are so proud to show it to our friends and family. Mari is dedicated to detail and it shows. We found her to be personable right from the get go. The most impressive character trait that Mari possesses is her ability to keep her word. She never, not once, let us down. When we had issues come up, as we expected to have them with contractors and workers on the job, all we had to do was give Mari a call and the problem was solved. I would say over all the experience was seamless. My husband and I are not designers by any stretch of the imagination. We relied totally on Mari's creativity and impressive taste. Honestly, I was dreading the whole, "kitchen makeover" thing and I ended up having a blast with Mari. She also found ways to save money on certain items so that we could spend a little more on some fancier things like lighting fixtures and pretties....oh and also, we were able to afford a micro-wave that is in a drawer in the island!!! You don't even notice it. Every detail is perfect in our kitchen and we are now eating "in" most nights for dinner. Thank you Mari!!!!!
