Matthew Burt Electrical is a one-name operation in Danvers that, by its own account, has been doing electrical work since 2005. Matt Burt is the guy people call when something has already gone sideways — a panel that can't keep up with modern loads, wiring some previous job left half-finished, an outlet that started smoking. The clearest recent account of that comes from a homeowner whose garage outlet began smoking; even though it had been a while since they'd last worked together, Matt fit him into the schedule on short notice and ended up spending the entire day sorting through several electrical problems traced back to earlier work someone else had done in that garage. That pattern — showing up fast and fixing what someone else left behind — keeps recurring across his history. Reviewers on Google, Houzz, Angi, and a handful of local directories have landed at five stars going back to 2018, consistently describing him as prompt, professional, and fair on price; Nextdoor neighbors frame him as the electrician who reliably "shows up when he says he will." What's worth knowing going in: the company's own website says it's been operating since 2005, but BBB dates the business to 2015 — worth asking about if long tenure matters to you. The five-star average also rests on a modest sample, 13 ratings on Google and single reviews on Houzz and Angi, so there's more consistency here than sheer volume. BBB also lists the business as not accredited and says it doesn't have enough information to issue a rating. For a homeowner facing a wiring problem that's outgrown a quick fix, or planning a panel upgrade, this looks like a safe call to make — just confirm current availability and licensing directly, since nothing here comes from a state registry check.

I’ve known Matt for years from when our sons played little league together, and he previously did some electrical work for us at our old house that was excellent. After moving, we hadn’t needed an electrician in a while, but last week we had a scary situation where an outlet in our garage started smoking. I reached out to Matt and he was able to fit us into his schedule on extremely short notice. He came over not knowing exactly what he was walking into and ended up spending the entire day working through multiple electrical issues that had come up from some previous work done in our garage over the summer. What really stood out was his professionalism. Some of the problems he uncovered were serious and could have become dangerous if left unresolved. Matt explained everything clearly, handled the situation respectfully, and focused on getting everything corrected and safe without ever making anyone feel uncomfortable about how the issues happened. He truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was done the right way and that our home was safe again. It’s rare to find someone who combines technical skill, honesty, and professionalism the way Matt does. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable and trustworthy electrician in the area, I can’t recommend Matthew Burt Electrical highly enough.

I highly recommend Matthew for any of your electrical needs. He recently did a fairly large job at my home, including a service upgrade from 60 amps to 200 amps, running multiple circuits indoors and new ones outdoors, upgrading exterior lights, and replacing a ton of old, incorrect wiring left from the previous owner. Matthew was honest, transparent, performs high quality work, has fantastic attention to detail, and (this is important to me) keeps his workplace spotless. He would explain everything being done, the reasoning behind it, and had the foresight to add some items I would have otherwise missed. Overall he was a great guy to work with and I can see myself working with him again in the future!

Couldn't be happier with my experience with Matt. I was hoping to have a ceiling light replaced in a pinch, and he was out to my house the same day. Unfortunately I purchased the wrong light because I do not have a switch in the room, and he was able to install a switch on the light, so that I could use the light I wanted without delay. He finished quickly, and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend Matt for any electrical needs!
