That 2024 Angi review of a shower expansion is the most recent word on George Mavridis, and it sums up what customers wrote about him for a decade before it. Mavridis Contracting Services is a Milton general contractor; BuildZoom credits it with 16 years in the field and 27 permitted projects. The written reviews run from 2014 to 2024, and nearly all of them are from 2021 or earlier, so read them as history. In 2020 and 2021, Angi customers described a gutted-and-rebuilt bathroom, a deck where George flagged pre-existing problems and built around them, a 50-year-old house that got new casement windows, exterior paint and rotted trim replaced, a remodel that had to undo a previous contractor's forty-year-old shortcuts, and a walkway that strangers stopped to ask about. The words that repeat are honest, detailed and patient; a 2020 reviewer said they always knew where the project stood on timing and cost. Two 2014 accounts, one on Angi and one on BuildZoom, tell the same story of a five-bid renovation in which George was the only bidder willing to work through the plans with the homeowner's engineer and architect. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show a 5.0 from 14 ratings, all five stars; BuildZoom shows one five-star review. BuildZoom lists several Massachusetts licence numbers for the company, including construction supervisor licences CS-123560 and CS-102685 and a 191100 registration; none of these has been checked against the state registry. Before calling, ask about pace. The 2024 reviewer chose him knowing the small crew and subcontractors would take longer, and was glad they did. The company's own website is minimal, with contact details, testimonials and social links. He is the right call for a bathroom or whole-room remodel on an older house where things will turn up behind the walls and you want them explained rather than covered. Confirm the schedule and which parts of the job go to subcontractors before signing.
I wanted a shower expanded. George Mavridis's estimate was very competitive but I hired him because I knew he was honest, quality focused and an open communicator. He has a small crew and excellent subs so he's not super fast. But Mavridis is excellent. One example: The shower needed a new fan, vented through the attic roof. The attic boards were all cut (before my time) in half when insulation was installed. The attic floor was unstable and unsafe. George was very busy but he had his team replace the boards with plywood panels...for 20% less than I expected. Why? Because he wanted to make sure I would be happy when the job was done. I could give 4-5 other examples but you get the point. If you hire George, you'll be pleased.
Cannot say enough good things about Mavridis Contracting and its sub-contractors. This was a challenging project in part because the prior remodeling contractor (from forty years ago) cut many corners that needed to be remedied. Mr. Mavridis, his employees, and sub-contractors identified and explained every issue so that we could make informed decisions. The team was courteous, professional, skilled, and very tidy (cleaning up after each day). The finish work (tiling, carpentry, etc.) is excellent. Even the city inspectors provided unprompted compliments on the final product.
Our house is 50+ years old and had the original casement windows, which were starting to fail. In addition, the exterior of our house need to be painted and there were a great deal of shingles or trim that was rotted and needed to be replaced. George and his team did an outstanding job, kept us informed as they went along and completed everything on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with how the house looks. I would highly recommend Mavridis Contratcing to anyone looking for a contractor.
George and his crew were excellent. What I appreciated most was his integrity and commitment to providing quality work. He didn’t cut corners, and he made recommendations that will ensure that my new deck will last for years to come. He discovered some pre-existing conditions with the foundation of my home that he could’ve ignored and that could’ve caused problems down the line had he not addressed them and just built around them. While I had not anticipated having to make such extensive repairs, it made sense, and I’m glad that I did. I’d work with this company again and highly recommend George and his crew to others. The work was well done; he worked on it until finished not leaving to take on other projects; and they cleaned up the area every day. Already, I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the work and look forward to next Spring when I can enjoy the deck again.
