Two different homeowners, ten years apart, tell nearly the same story about George Mavridis: they blew up their own plans mid-job, and he repriced and rebuilt around them without a fight. In a 2014 review, a client who had five contractors bid a difficult renovation described tearing down ceilings and drywall himself on a Saturday night — Mavridis came in Monday, pulled in the architect and engineer, and reworked the design; the job still landed close to the original target date. A homeowner writing in February 2020 said his crew gutted the kitchen of an 1890 Victorian and fixed floors and ceilings thrown out of level by decades of settling. The company works out of 98 Capen Street in Milton, with George (Georgios) Mavridis as owner. Its Angi and HomeAdvisor pages — the same record published twice — average 5.0 across 14 reviews, every one of them five stars, and BuildZoom's permit trail shows 27 permitted projects between 2015 and 2025: kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement finishes and condo gut renovations in Milton, Brookline, Boston and Jamaica Plain. Its own directory copy claims 28 years of experience in one line and "over 20 years" in another. The praise is more specific than a five-star wall usually is. A 2020 deck customer said he found pre-existing foundation problems he could have quietly built over, raised them, and repaired them instead; a February 2021 client said city inspectors handed out unprompted compliments on the finish work. Pace is the trade-off, and the newest review says so plainly — writing in March 2024 after a shower expansion, a homeowner called the estimate competitive and the work excellent, then noted: "He has a small crew and excellent subs so he's not super fast." Two things to pin down before signing. Almost everything written about them dates to 2020 and 2021, with one account from 2024, so ask for references from the past year. And the licence numbers on those profiles — a construction supervisor licence CS-102685 and a home improvement registration — are the directories' own listings rather than anything confirmed here; BuildZoom separately shows an older home improvement registration as inactive alongside a newer one. Ask to see current registration and insurance certificates. For a complicated, phased remodel where the plan will move — an old house, an architect involved, permits to renegotiate — this is the shop those reviews describe. If speed matters more than that, say so at the estimate.
I wanted a shower expanded. George Mavridis's estimate was very competitive but I hired him because I knew he was honest, quality focused and an open communicator. He has a small crew and excellent subs so he's not super fast. But Mavridis is excellent. One example: The shower needed a new fan, vented through the attic roof. The attic boards were all cut (before my time) in half when insulation was installed. The attic floor was unstable and unsafe. George was very busy but he had his team replace the boards with plywood panels...for 20% less than I expected. Why? Because he wanted to make sure I would be happy when the job was done. I could give 4-5 other examples but you get the point. If you hire George, you'll be pleased.
Cannot say enough good things about Mavridis Contracting and its sub-contractors. This was a challenging project in part because the prior remodeling contractor (from forty years ago) cut many corners that needed to be remedied. Mr. Mavridis, his employees, and sub-contractors identified and explained every issue so that we could make informed decisions. The team was courteous, professional, skilled, and very tidy (cleaning up after each day). The finish work (tiling, carpentry, etc.) is excellent. Even the city inspectors provided unprompted compliments on the final product.
Our house is 50+ years old and had the original casement windows, which were starting to fail. In addition, the exterior of our house need to be painted and there were a great deal of shingles or trim that was rotted and needed to be replaced. George and his team did an outstanding job, kept us informed as they went along and completed everything on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with how the house looks. I would highly recommend Mavridis Contratcing to anyone looking for a contractor.
George and his crew were excellent. What I appreciated most was his integrity and commitment to providing quality work. He didn’t cut corners, and he made recommendations that will ensure that my new deck will last for years to come. He discovered some pre-existing conditions with the foundation of my home that he could’ve ignored and that could’ve caused problems down the line had he not addressed them and just built around them. While I had not anticipated having to make such extensive repairs, it made sense, and I’m glad that I did. I’d work with this company again and highly recommend George and his crew to others. The work was well done; he worked on it until finished not leaving to take on other projects; and they cleaned up the area every day. Already, I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the work and look forward to next Spring when I can enjoy the deck again.
The best remodeling experience I’ve ever had.
