When one homeowner put George Mavridis up against four other contractors — with an architect and engineer sitting in on every bid meeting — in a 2014 review, he was the only one who showed up prepared and responsive to what the design team asked for. Mavridis Contracting Services is a Milton, Massachusetts general contractor run by George Mavridis, working mostly on kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, and whole-house renovation. The reviews describe a small operation that takes on complicated, older-house work: in a 2021 review, one homeowner said George and his team corrected corners cut by a prior remodeler from forty years earlier; another, the same year, described replacing failing 50-year-old casement windows and rotted trim and shingles across the exterior. In a 2020 review, a customer credited George with discovering pre-existing conditions during a deck build and making recommendations to keep it sound for years; strangers have stopped another customer, in a 2020 review, to ask about a walkway George's crew installed. Angi and HomeAdvisor each show a perfect 5.0★ from 14 reviews, and BuildZoom lists an additional single 5-star review from 2014. One thing worth setting expectations around: a 2024 review said the small crew and their subcontractors mean the work isn't especially fast, even though the same reviewer called the results excellent. For a kitchen or bathroom remodel, a deck, or exterior work on an older home, George Mavridis's reviews point to careful, honest work that holds up; ask about the timeline upfront given the small-crew pace, and confirm current license status directly, since the numbers listed on directories here haven't been checked against the state registry.
I wanted a shower expanded. George Mavridis's estimate was very competitive but I hired him because I knew he was honest, quality focused and an open communicator. He has a small crew and excellent subs so he's not super fast. But Mavridis is excellent. One example: The shower needed a new fan, vented through the attic roof. The attic boards were all cut (before my time) in half when insulation was installed. The attic floor was unstable and unsafe. George was very busy but he had his team replace the boards with plywood panels...for 20% less than I expected. Why? Because he wanted to make sure I would be happy when the job was done. I could give 4-5 other examples but you get the point. If you hire George, you'll be pleased.
Cannot say enough good things about Mavridis Contracting and its sub-contractors. This was a challenging project in part because the prior remodeling contractor (from forty years ago) cut many corners that needed to be remedied. Mr. Mavridis, his employees, and sub-contractors identified and explained every issue so that we could make informed decisions. The team was courteous, professional, skilled, and very tidy (cleaning up after each day). The finish work (tiling, carpentry, etc.) is excellent. Even the city inspectors provided unprompted compliments on the final product.
Our house is 50+ years old and had the original casement windows, which were starting to fail. In addition, the exterior of our house need to be painted and there were a great deal of shingles or trim that was rotted and needed to be replaced. George and his team did an outstanding job, kept us informed as they went along and completed everything on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with how the house looks. I would highly recommend Mavridis Contratcing to anyone looking for a contractor.
George and his crew were excellent. What I appreciated most was his integrity and commitment to providing quality work. He didn't cut corners, and he made recommendations that will ensure that my new deck will last for years to come. He discovered some pre-existing conditions with the foundation of my home that he could've ignored and that could've caused problems down the line had he not addressed them and just built around them. While I had not anticipated having to make such extensive repairs, it made sense, and I'm glad that I did. I'd work with this company again and highly recommend George and his crew to others. The work was well done; he worked on it until finished not leaving to take on other projects; and they cleaned up the area every day. Already, I've gotten lots of compliments on the work and look forward to next Spring when I can enjoy the deck again.
