McDonald Heating, AC and Plumbing, Inc. presents itself as an Auburn-based Massachusetts company for heating, air conditioning, and plumbing repair, installation, and maintenance. Its website says it has served Auburn, Worcester County, and surrounding communities since 1987, and it identifies itself as a Mass Save Certified Contractor; the Massachusetts registry separately shows an active plumber license for Mcdonald Heating, A/C And Plumbing Inc. Recent customers describe knowledgeable advice, prompt service, fair pricing, and dependable technicians. The longer review history includes mini-split and HVAC installations, an AC replacement, a gas-boiler replacement, and a blower-motor visit, with several reviewers praising clear explanations, clean installation, and follow-through. One recent review, however, reports an AC capacitor visit that was quoted at $230 for the first hour but billed at $802, later reduced to $562, with the reviewer also saying the bill was not itemized. The company is a plausible fit for homeowners comparing HVAC replacements, ductless mini-splits, boilers, heating service, and plumbing work. Before booking, ask for an itemized estimate, confirm the hourly and parts charges, and clarify what is covered if an installed or repaired system develops recurring issues. Customers who value detailed consultations and established local experience may find the company worth considering, while the pricing complaint makes written scope and billing terms especially important.
Chris provided me with incredibly valuable information. Clearly someone who is extremely knowledgable. I did not feel like I was getting a sales pitch from chris. Just honest information.
My AC was down the service man came quickly and fix the problem in under 30 minutes, the service call I was told $230.00 for the first hour he replaced the ac capacitor which is about a $40.00 part he then informed me the bill was $802. I was upset called the office which they said. They would lower the bill by $75.00 which I said was unacceptable so they lowered the bill to $562. Which is still to much the bill was also not itemized as it should have been. I paid this. So buyer beware.
Excellent, knowledgeable and prompt service and fair pricing. My sixth sense tells me I can trust them. They have been to my house multiple times over past 10 years and were very dependable each time
We’ve worked with McDonald Heating Air Conditioning Plumbing, Inc. twice now. And both experiences have been excellent. They replaced our AC system about three years ago, so when it was time to replace our gas boiler, we didn’t hesitate to call them again. Chris came out to provide the estimate and clearly explained what would be replaced and why. Both Chris and Bill also pointed out what components from our prior system could be safely retained to keep the project as cost‑effective as possible. Bill stopped by ahead of the installation to walk the technicians through the setup and ensure everyone was aligned on the work required. That level of preparation gave us a lot of confidence. On installation day, the team was here the entire day and handled everything professionally and efficiently. The new Bosch boiler is running perfectly, and our heating is working exactly as expected. McDonald HVAC continues to deliver reliable, high‑quality service, and we’re very pleased with the results.
McDonald's advertises as a "Trusted Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Service Company." We concur: over the summer we had mini splits installed and you can count us as one of their satisfied customers. We could not have asked for nicer people throughout the whole process. First, we met with Chris who patiently answered all of our questions. Next, we met Bill, the Project Manager, who possessed incredible credentials. My wife tested his knowledge by putting forth a multitude of questions and even fired off questions about our present heating system. Bill passed the "Test" with flying colors. The final step was the actual installation and the McDonald's Team of Auburn stepped up again and showed their true colors, led by the amiable and personable Ray. My wife referred to Ray as a "gem": so patient, so efficient and so kind. I may add, Michelle the owner, came by to check on everything. Yes indeed, the mini splits were enjoyed & appreciated especially during the "Dog Days" of August; we both agreed that the mini splits installed by McDonald's of Auburn was a good decision.
