Gervais Mechanical is a large, multi-trade shop out of Auburn — HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work under one roof, doing everything from furnace and boiler installs to water heaters, panel upgrades, and EV charger installs across central Massachusetts. It's been owned since 2023 by Horizon Group Holdings (also known as Strikepoint Group Holdings), a national home-services roll-up, and the review volume reflects that scale: Google alone shows 4.7★ from nearly 1,500 ratings, and the written record runs to 839 reviews since 2021. The strongest thread in the reviews is emergency responsiveness. When a 22-year-old AC system died mid-heat-wave, Gervais had a tech out that same afternoon and a sales rep the next day; another customer whose central air failed during a heat wave called six companies and Gervais alone showed up the next day. On the value side, one customer who solicited seven bids for a full oil-heating-system replacement said Gervais tied for the lowest price with comparable equipment and a 10-year parts warranty. Individual technicians get called out by name often — for stress-testing pipes and steering a customer away from an unnecessary repair, for thorough furnace diagnostics, for careful, code-compliant electrical work after storm damage. Set against that is a real pattern worth knowing about, one that shows up across several different years rather than as a single bad week: repeated cancelled and rescheduled appointments. A 2021 review described a new-furnace install rescheduled four times, leaving the customer without heat heading into December; a December 2025 review described a boiler service cancelled and rescheduled twice, with the boiler still unserviced. Those are years apart, but the same failure mode. Separately, a 2026 review reported a $50,000 boiler installation that started leaking within a year, installed initially on an extension cord because the proper outlet wasn't run, with a living room lighting circuit disconnected along the way — and a 2024 review described a two-month billing dispute where the only follow-up contact was a call trying to collect additional money for the company's own installation mistake. The company holds Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure numbers across its trades, per its BBB listing, and has been BBB-accredited since late 2024. Gervais can clearly mobilize fast and price competitively on a straightforward job, and most reviews describe good, professional technicians. But given how many detailed accounts describe scheduling failures and, in a few cases, real installation shortcuts on expensive jobs, it's worth pinning down a firm appointment window in writing and asking pointed questions about the specific crew and materials before a large job — especially anything involving a full system replacement.
“Gervais seemed to know their stuff but their prices were high. I got a lower quote for the same thing from C&C Temp Control.”
“I have been happy with Gervais. Their quotes are middle of the road but they are responsive and do a good job. You can do a lot worse.”
“We have been working with Gervais mechanical.”
“We ended up using Gervais Plumbing in Auburn and they were awesome. Easy to work with, accommodating of our weird schedule, the install was done quickly, neatly, and they cleaned up well - and the prices were great too!”
“I second Gervais they serviced my systems recently and were clean and efficient.”

“Chris from Gervais was very prompt. He was very knowledgeable about what he needed to do. I have never had a nicer person come to my home the perform service.”
We recently got a plumbing inspection done by Robert from Gervais. He did an awesome and very thorough job! He took the time to stress test our pipes, gave us reasonable recommendations for how to move forward, and helped us avoid an expensive repair. We would definitely work with them again!
Adam did a great job.
The workman (Jaimie). was most professional, kind and thorough in his work at the house. He completed his work with efficiency and cleanliness. So appreciate his work ethic and completeness of following through on my requests.
Adam was so pleasant and thoughtful and made me feel comfortable, very approachable, friendly and easy to communicate with... An excellent salesman !!! Can't wait for him to do the job!!! Jackie Lefrancois
We had our electrical service ripped from our house from a downed tree that took out the power lines. Gervais was great from start to finish. They thoroughly explained what needed to be replaced, and updated my service to the current codes. Matt our technician showed up on time and did a great job! He was knowledgeable and courteous and kept us updated through the replacement process. Upon completion the area was left clean and neat, and most importantly the electrical system was back and running. A job well done!
