Gervais Mechanical is an Auburn heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical contractor with 4.7 stars from 1,481 Google ratings, an A+ from BBB, and BBB accreditation since December 2024. It says it has been in business 18-plus years and lists service towns across Massachusetts. A 2023 contractormag.com article reported that Horizon Group Holdings had acquired Gervais Mechanical. Recent customers describe quick replacements. In a June 2026 review, a customer whose water heater went out on a Sunday had a new one within 24 hours; a May 2026 customer said a tech came out the afternoon they called about a dead 22-year-old AC system, and the system was replaced. A July 2026 customer said the company replaced electrical service torn off the house by a downed tree and brought it up to current code. On Nextdoor in July 2025, neighbors in Auburn and Rutland described a furnace install and a clean service visit. Other customers describe trouble with big installs and scheduling. An April 2026 reviewer said a boiler installed as part of a $50,000-plus job was leaking less than a year later and had been run on an extension cord because the outlet was too far. In a January 2026 review, a customer said they were extremely unhappy with the first kitchen hood vent install, and a December 2025 customer said a boiler service booked a month ahead was cancelled twice, the second time a day before the appointment. In a May 2024 review, a customer who spent $13,000 on a recommended heat and AC system said the install scheduled for two days was not done after two. A March 2022 customer said a new furnace install was rescheduled four times over seven weeks, starting with a no-show. A February 2023 customer said a $1,500 steam pipe move left a leak and a damaged radiator, and the company then quoted $1,100 to fix it. In a November 2021 BuildZoom review, a 73-year-old customer described three months without heat on a $14,000 furnace and bathroom contract, a gas inspector who faulted the company for firing the furnace before inspection, and a $14,000 lien filed on his property after he ended the contract. On Reddit in December 2024, one commenter found the prices high and got a lower quote elsewhere, and another called the quotes middle of the road.
