What's almost entirely missing is the homeowner's voice: a single five-star Google rating is the whole review history, so there's nothing to tell you how a job actually goes day to day. Two things need a direct question before you hire. BBB's file carries a notice that the business is believed to be out of business, and shows it as Not Rated for that reason — yet the state registration is active and permits were pulled in 2024 and 2025, so confirm the company is still operating and who will be on your job. Separately, BuildZoom lists an EPA Renovation certification for the company as inactive, having been cancelled at some point, alongside an older Massachusetts registration it also marks inactive. If your house predates 1978, lead-safe certification is not optional, so ask to see the current EPA firm certification in writing. For a straightforward remodel where you want a contractor with a long, verifiable permit history and are willing to check references yourself, Mecho is worth a call. Confirm the business is active, get the lead-safe certification and insurance certificates in hand, and ask for two or three recent clients you can phone, because the public reviews will not answer that for you.
