Mendonca Electric is a New Bedford electrical shop run by Ryan L. Mendonca, and the first thing a March 2025 Thumbtack reviewer mentioned was that they answered the phone. That customer had just bought a house in the area with a few DIY jobs the previous owner left behind that weren't visible at first, and wrote that the crew fit them in and diagnosed the issue. The company's own text says it has been in business since 2008. Four Thumbtack reviews, dated May 2024 through March 2025, sit on a page showing 5.0 from 8 ratings. Two from January 2025 cover the practical end of the trade: 18 lights replaced across a store, and ceiling tiles changed, cut and sized to fit. A May 2024 customer called them patient in explaining the options. The Thumbtack listing runs through the everyday electrical menu — wiring and outlet repair, lighting, fan and generator installation, circuit-breaker panel and fuse-box work. BuildZoom's profile shows three permitted projects and prints a Massachusetts electrician licence number, 23596, plus a Rhode Island number; Thumbtack's credentials section lists a Master Electrician credential for Massachusetts without printing a number. One long entry on that Thumbtack page is a block of keyword phrases posted under a name matching the owner's. A reasonable call for lights, outlets, panel and generator work around New Bedford. Look up the Massachusetts licence number on the state register, and get the scope and price in writing before the work starts.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Mendonca Electric Llc. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

These guys are the real deal. We're newer to the area, bought a house with a few former homeowner DIYs that weren't visible off the bat, and don't have a list of people to refer to. These guys answer the phone, fit you in, and were able to diagnose the issue and come up with a variety of solutions and explain them in a way we could understand. Extremely intelligent crew with lots of experience but make it feel like you've got friends over to help out fixing something. They're competent and have pride in what they do and the quality of their work shows. Definitely going to call them first next time anything happens.
Guys came in to fix my ceiling tiles and did more than asked for. Changed all tiles, cut and sized them perfectly. Fast and efficient Thanks for all the help guys.
Fast, efficient, great communication, and great service as a whole. Came in fixed all lights in my store (18 lights) and couldnt ask for anything more. Thanks guys.
Mendonca Electric is fantastic; They have solid expertise with deep, firsthand knowledge of all things electrical. They are responsive, personable, thorough, ethical, and transparent, always looking for the best solution and are patient in explaining the options to the customer and reiterating it all when the job is complete. They also have a solid understanding along with years of experience with wireless technology. Mendonca would be able to help electrosensitive customers make the interior of their homes safe from an electromagnetic perspective. I highly recommend Mendonca electric and will be hiring them in the future. Nancy of Wayland, MA.
